Third Person POV

The trip was (mostly) a success. The trio found the nobleman, acquired the money for the formal attire and even got the address of where the soiree will take place. However, knowing that the Fatui are planning something didn't sit right with Y/n. She kept thinking about how they knew her father. She couldn't help but feel a sense of dread.

"Shortie!"
"Huh?!"
"I said we're here, you can get off now." She blinked, realising they were standing in the lobby. "Ah. My bad." He let her down gently and she approached the front desk.

"Hi. We'd like to book a room? Two very separate beds, please." She did not want to repeat what happened the other night. "Thank you!" She thanked the lady and they made their way up the stairs to where their room was. She opened the door and they entered one by one. "Nice." Was all the oni said as he admired the room.

Y/n sighed with relief when she saw that there were two beds.
"Thank the Archons."
"What's that?"
"Nothing. Who's cleaning up first?" She asked, pointing to the bathroom.

"You can go first. I'll go after~" He allowed her to go before him, trying to show his chivalrous side but she didn't take note. She threw the bag onto the bed to take out the items she will need but noticed something else. "Didn't you pack an extra set of clothes?" She asked the oni.

He had actually forgotten to pack even though Granny and Y/n have told him numerous times before they left to do so. Playing it off, he casually leaned against the wall. "Psh. Who needs extra clothes? I can just sleep in these pants." As he said that, he shrugged his coat off, revealing his bare shoulders that was a little too much for Y/n.

Y/n's face immediately exploded into a deep scarlet and panicked, rushing towards the bathroom. "I-I'm going to wash up now!" Y/n shouted and slammed the bathroom door closed behind her. She hated how easily flustered she got back there.

'Not again! Is he seriously that comfortable with me? At least he wasn't completely shirtless like the last time. Silver lining, yay.'

Y/n POV

After I was done in the bathroom, I entered the room while drying my hair vigorously with a towel. I saw that Ushi was already curled up on Arataki's bed, fast asleep, but where's Arataki?

I looked around, there was no place for a man of his size to hide. I saw that the curtains were open and there was a shoji door that lead to what I assumed was a balcony of some kind. 'Didn't even know this room came with one.'

As I advanced towards it, I could make out a silhouette behind the curtains that was blowing in the draft that came through. I pulled it aside and saw Arataki leaning on the railing with his elbows, looking over the small town we were in. Thankfully, he put his coat back on.

He looked... Tensed. Although his back was to me, I could see how tense his shoulders were. "Half-Oni?" He jumped at the sound of my voice, scaring him and making me feel guilty. "H-Hey! What's up?" He answered rather nervously, I caught the poor guy off guard.

"Sorry. I wanted to ask if you're okay?" He blinked owlishly at me, not saying anything for a moment. "Just thinkin' about stuff." He finally said and shrugged his shoulders. Why'd he seem so nervous all of a sudden? What was he thinking about?

"What kind of stuff?" I questioned with the tilt of my head. "Uhhh, oh y'know... Stuff!" Did he seriously think I'd believe him with a half-ass answer like that? It was obvious he didn't want to tell me so I should let it slide.

"Whatever you say. Just wanted to let you know that I'm done in the bathroom so you can use it." He nodded and awkwardly pointed finger guns at me, "Be right there!" My face stiffened at the tone he used and cringed from within my core.

"Sure..." I left him to his devices and entered the room again. I didn't want to catch a cold with my wet hair. He was relieved when I didn't notice his flushed face thanks to the lighting.

I walked into the room but couldn't help but feel worried. Whatever he was thinking about has him acting pretty weird. I heard a loud growling sound and froze, my heart nearly stopped. "What the hell?" I looked down and wanted to slap myself from stupidity. It was just my stomach.

'When was the last time I ate? Right, this morning I had yaki...soba...' An image of a shirtless Arataki popped into my mind. "Stop!" I slapped my face, earning a bewildered look from Ushi. I snuck a glance where Arataki was and sighed when I was certain he didn't hear me.

'Where could I get food at this time... Didn't I see a place selling food earlier?'

Arataki passed me and went straight to the bathroom, not speaking a word. He almost seemed to be in a rush but that could just be me imagining things. Wait, I could nab us something to eat while he's busy!

I grabbed something to keep me warm and threw on a pair of shoes, "Be right back." I told Ushi and he lifted his head to groggily peek at me. I chuckled lightly at him and closed the door, hurrying down the stairs to find the place I had spotted earlier.
