"Sorry for calling you out like this randomly, you must be busy" Haechan said after greeting her as she entered the passenger side of his car

"Its no problem, so...whats up" She asked, buckling herself with the seat belt as he started to exit the complex and drive onto the roads.

"Listen i love Jaemin, he's like a brother to me more than a friend. And I understand that he really likes you and from what i can tell...you really like him" haechan started, trying his best to not beat around the bush

"Uhh yeah" she said, trying to hide a smile, thank god it was dark or else his eyes would've landed on her burning cheeks

"You know about his illness?" He asked

"Yeah...it sounds pretty bad" she said

"I'm glad you know how bad it is....what I'm trying to say is that it's only going to be getting worse. He can't really endure stress right now, I'm afraid that you two being together will cause him stress" haechan said

"But...I'll help him-"

"I know you will but, these surgeries are going to take a mental toll on you, trust me i would know. Ive been with him for years and they're scary, it doesn't get better either. The worry of whether he will be okay every second of the day is really irritating for Jaemin and probably will be for you as well. He's a calm person but when he gets a tad bit angry or upset his heart rate picks up so fast you swear he could just pass out on the spot....that's why I'm telling you this"

"So you think it's best that...i stop seeing him?" She asked to gain clarity and he sighed

"I'm sorry, i really hoped that Jaemin would be the one doing this" he said, she finally realised why he looked so conflicted earlier today

"You seem like an amazing person, Jaemin doesn't want to put you through all this pain either, he just doesn't know how to explain it" haechan said and she sighed

"If it's gonna help him get better...I'll do anything i can" she said and he smiled

"...I'll keep you updated on him...if you'd like?" Haechan said, feeling bad for making them part like this, but he only had Jaemin's best interests at heart.

"No...it's better i forget him, just to make it easier for me as well" she said

"I know you'd understand. Thank you, for everything" haechan said, his past opinion of her dissipating into thin air. He liked how understanding and mature she was, he misread her from day 1.

"We're here" he said with a small smile as he parked outside the club and with a short sigh leaving her mouth she took her work bag and got out of the car.

"Thanks for the ride"

"No worries, take care"

They formally parted ways with each other and he sped down the road. She wasn't going to lie to herself and say she was fine, but she knew she would be okay eventually, At least she hoped.

The next day all texts from Jaemin went unanswered, his texts about missing tees, whether she wanted to go get some dinner with him, texts asking her how she was doing...everything was unanswered.

She was contemplating fully blocking his number altogether but she couldn't bring herself to it, she had gone to Jungwoo for advice and even he agreed with haechan, to give Jaemin space and time to be with his family and focus on his health, and if, as he put it, 'their stars aligned' they will find a way to be back together.

She looked at his contact info, the word "block" highlighted in red. Just as she would press the button, the call screen came up and she accidentally pressed the answer button
