Chapter 34: Trauma

That day was also the same day I handed in my resignation letter.

Cyrene eyed me with curiosity when I did that.

"Why? Masyado ka bang nabigatan sa workload? I can try to reduce it if that's your concern."

Umiling ako. "I had a fun experience working here. Wala po akong reklamo at hindi naman ako nahirapan. It's just that... I already need to accomplish some important personal matters. I am sorry, Sir." I bowed my head.

He sighed. "Well, that's good but also sad. Can't believe I have no secretary now." He chuckled. "Pero wala naman akong magagawa. Wish you luck I guess? And see you again?"

Tumango ako. "Thank you, Sir Cyrene. See you again."

He smiled. "Cire nalang."

I smiled back. "Thank you, Cire. Pasensya na talaga."

I did what I needed to do after that. Agad akong pumunta ng ospital despite not feeling so well because I was afraid na baka mawala pa ang sample sa akin.

Because of Maya's help ay napadali ang pagproseso namin. Ang sabi ay makukuha na ang results after 3 days.

I was on my way out of the hospital when I bumped into someone.

My eyes widened as I looked at the woman in front of me at mukhang gano'n din siya.

"G-Gigi..." she muttered and hugged me tight.

"Kelssey."

"Ang daya mo! Ang daya daya mo!" She repeatedly said while hugging me.

"S-Sorry." I whispered as I started tearing up.

"Ang sama mo! Iniwan mo kami! Hinanap ka namin pero ang hirap mong hanapin!" She pulled away and looked at me with tears in her eyes. "A-Anong nangyari?"

Gulat pa rin ako habang nakatingin sa kanya at hindi ko inaaasahan na ganito ang magiging pakitungo niya sa akin.

I thought she would get angry and just ignore me. Actually, hindi ko talaga inaasahan na magkikita pa kami after all the years that have passed.

But she's here now. Lumapit ako sa kanya at hinawakan ang kanyang kamay. Her appearance changed a lot, too. Medyo nagmature ng konti but in a freaking good day. She's still so beautiful.

My tears fell. "K-Kelssey, sorry."

I miss them. I miss them so much...sila ni Olive. Ni minsan hindi ko sila nakalimutan.

"Sorry? Sorry ka d'yan! Ang dami mong utang na paliwanag! Magbayad ka muna!" She muttered and wiped her tears but seconds later we both laughed while looking at each other.

"Tangina, ang corny at drama naman nito! Gusto ko lang naman ng explanation at update mula sayo," she laughed and wiped the tears in her eyes again.

"Should we talk about it over coffee? L-Libre ko." I hesitatedly said.

Ngumisi naman siya. "Tangina, dapat lang libre mo, bruha ka! Pinahirapan mo kami kakahanap sayo!"

It wasn't the reunion that I had in my mind but it was actually a lot better. I thought we would feel awkward after years of not having any news regarding each other, but it turned out to be not that bad.

"Sa totoo lang, gulat na gulat kami nang malamang anak ka pala ni Aldrick Alcantara that time but we weren't mad, Gi. We know you have your reasons at hinihintay ka lang naming magreach out at sabihin ang tao, pero 'yon nga... hindi ka na nagpakita pa. Imagine our grief!"

"S-Sorry." I said again.

"Hinanap ka namin after you disappeared. Liv and I even devised ways on how we could talk to your family, akala namin tinatago ka lang nila pero wala ka pala talaga doon. And Alistair uhm..." she suddenly looked away.
