𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄, Deena rest her elbow along the cold surface of the lunch table and planted her cheek in her palm.

She barely touched her chicken wrap, tormented by a vivid dream that's been reoccurring since Hayley's wedding night; a cloaked woman filling her ears with a hunted melody, and no matter where Deena hid, she'd always find her. But whenever she was close enough to touch, before her hood lifted and her face had been revealed, she's woken up in puddles of sweat. Then left unsure if the nightmare was a warning or if paranoia was getting the best of her. Perhaps both.

A hand sliding Deena's trigonometry homework from beneath her elbow forced her head to lift toward Quinn holding the papers hostage. "Girl, this is your free period. Not let-me-catch-up-on-homework period. Not to mention, you were gone for at least a month, so I haven't seen your ass in a while." She nagged.

"What's there to talk about when you update me 24/7?"

"Much," Taking a small bite of her wrap, Quinn covered her mouth until it's swallowed down her throat. "I'm thinking about hosting a small get-together next weekend. My parents will be out of town for business, and I want you to come. And bring your cousin too." She's smiling toward Niles who picked up his lunch and was heading toward their table.

Deena pursed her lips. "You just want me to come so I can bring Niles."

"I want you to come because you're my friend and I want us to have a good time together...but I want Niles to come too." Quinn admitted. "He's always playing hard to get but he listens to you. You bring him, I bring Erik."

        Deena perked. Erik? What for?

Of course, being a vampire meant Niles currently heard their conversation and hid his smile as he approached their table. Quinn grew silent waiting for Deena to be the one to invite him.

"Ask him yourself." Deena snatched her homework, rereading the same problem over and over again. Math was already her weakest subject, and in English — she might as well prepare herself to repeat the grade.
