𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐔𝐌 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐖 𝐈𝐍 𝐍𝐔𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐒, filling up bleachers, cars parked in grassy lots or across the street when Deena and her mother arrived. A light pink dress short above her knees and hugging tightly off her shoulders hid beneath her black graduation gown with navy blue outlines along the cuffs. It's an ugly combination and threw off the style completely. The cap also ended up not fitting around her curls even with bobby pins, so Deena had to straighten out her ginger hair with luscious body waves.

The pair followed down the steep hill not made for their heels, her mother not having much of a problem wearing heels all her life. Deena wore them occasionally or cute boots with a thicker heel, but had some practice walking in her mother's heels when she was younger and her feet were far too small to fit them.

"There's so many people here," Her mother commented, her voice strained. "Soo many smells."

Deena saw how tense her mother was in a place packed with walking blood bags. Guilt began to settle in. "I'm sorry. I didn't consider how difficult this would be for you. We can try something else..." She trailed not knowing what that something else could be.

Her arm was grabbed from turning around to head back to the car and kept them moving forward. "No, no, don't you worry about me. We're getting you across that stage no matter what." She said. "I can be uncomfortable for a little while."

"I don't want you uncomfortable." Deena expressed. "I want you here comfortably and you're clearly not."

"Honey, I'm fine. Don't make this about me, it's your big day. I promise I'm okay. No accidents will happen. I'm in complete control."

Her reassurance meant nothing if she couldn't even convince herself she was in control. Since becoming a vampire — officially for two months — Deena knew she was struggling with her new identity. Not in detail, but knew it was one of the reasons she became distant and was surprised by her determination to be here today.
