(Angst.)

Every being holds a heart.

No matter how many walls you build to hide it away from the world, it's still there. It tangles itself within your emotions, sometimes in a joyful manner and sometimes in a gruesome manner.

He knew that.

He knew that he had a heart because he felt it tearing from the seams.

All those emotions he tried to desperately hide came rushing to him, hitting harder than a meteorite when he saw her.

His lover, [Y/N], whom he cherished so very much. The only person he had left, the only person he needed to protect the most stared blankly at him.

Tears unwillingly began to run down his cheeks, crystal clear like his lover's fate when he saw the absence of the shine in her eyes. A mix of emotions came over him, too many. It was too overwhelming. With the echoing pitter patter of the rain mocking him, with the ever so still body of [Y/N] laying sprawled across the floor.

It was just too much. He couldn't differentiate or identify any of them as they began to claw at his heart. It hurt every time it pounded against his ribcage, his trembling heartbeat ringing in his ears.

His posture never faltered but this time when he stepped forward, he felt the tremors travelling down his spine. His knees buckled before him as his fingertips brushed against her forehead, tucking the strands behind her ear like he'd always do. The only difference was that she wasn't breathing like he was.

Crimson danced within the water surrounding him, staining his and her clothes. A large sword was thrusted into her chest, the source of the red trickling onto the ground.

Taking in a shaky breath, he placed his hand over her eyes, closing them slowly.

He failed. He had failed to protect that one person held near his heart, the one person that brought him happiness and the one he loved.

He let out a cracked sob, clutching her body close. Hoping to see one last smile, hoping to hear one last laugh, and hoping to hear one last, 'I love you.'

With his tears, the rain had put out the fire in his heart. Leaving only ashes, remains of his heart that can never be put together again.

(A/N: Hello, hello. My motivation is slowly slipping away so I'm sorry.)
