(This is my first genshin fic, aha. I said I wouldn't post this but for you guys, I will. Pls don't say anything mean on this one 😭I AM HIDING IN EMBARRASSMENT. I DIDN'T KNOW HIS CHAARACTER WELL COZ I JUST STARTED PLAYING HAGEDKRGFB)

The [h/c]-haired girl sat next to the stoic male beside her. It wasn't rare to see them together at the roof of Wangshu Inn. They simply bathed in the silence; no words exchanged. It wasn't awkward but it was comforting somehow. And at this point, they were both used to it.

[y/n] slightly flinched at the sound of a plate scraping against the ground next to her, the plate looked as if there wasn't any food on there in the first place. She wasn't surprised, it wasn't the first time this happened. She glanced at the male and inwardly smiled pitifully at herself, if only she was brave enough to say how beautiful he was out loud. It was pleasant to see Xiao relaxed for once, he barely ever drops his guard. Scratch that, he never drops his guard.

[y/n] drew out a light sigh. The sight was definitely going to stay engraved into her head.

The moonlight seemed to be directed onto his face, making each small feature more visible. His skin almost shimmering, it looked so soft and delicate, you couldn't have known that it fought wars. It confused her greatly on how he kept it so glabourous. His eyes shut, though it was a shame she couldn't see the moonlight reflect on his yellow piercing orbs that held little to no emotion, the ones that had seen all the horrors of the world. The ones who've seen the ones he cared about, fall limp in front of him. She always wondered he still had such a strong façade after all he's been through. She admired his strength greatly.

Her attention drifted to his pale pillowy lips that were pulled into a thin line. Maybe her attention stayed unwavered for too long. 'So pretty,' She let a small smile etch onto her face.

"What do you want?" Xiao's eyes opened, his yellow hues mocking annoyance, glaring down at her.

"Nothing!" [y/n] thanked the lord she wasn't standing because right now, her legs turned into jelly under his glare.

She averted her gaze to anywhere but his face in which Xiao sighed in annoyance.

"Tch, mortals," He muttered and closed his eyes, except this time with a slight scowl tugging down at his lips, "Always so bothersome."

[y/n] would be lying if she said that didn't hurt but she knew that's how he always acted. She ignored the urge to shift closer to him, but she was scared that he might dislike that. Even though she always stuck with him, she barely knew anything about him. Not even his hobbies or his favourite colour. Was this how close she could get? She couldn't even call it close.

Again, she inwardly sighed and placed her hand on the ground, maybe the coldness will wake her up to reality. She really hoped it was some bad dream, she'd hate to make eye contact with those eyes with hatred. At least she thought he would hate her. It was hard to tell because the stoic face he held was too strong, built with sorrow, hate and fear. But she wanted to see beyond his façade, she wanted to see all of his sides, his ups and downs. But she was too timid to even start a conversation with him, though she was still persistent to be with him. 'And this what you get for being so goddamn anti-social, you idiot,' She scolded herself mentally, socialising never really worked out for her. And probably never will.

[y/n]'s eyes widened when she saw a hand larger than hers, only a few centimetres away from hers. Was it an invitation? Or did he not mean to do it on purpose? Throwing a glance at the male, it didn't seem to bother him much.

'It's the 'I know I'm going to regret my actions, but I do it anyways' for me.'

Before she could possibly rethink her entire life, her hand inched closer to his. The male didn't move as her pinkie hovered over his, for once he looked so vulnerable. With one last wish to live and a trembling hand, she linked her pinkie with his. She could feel the blood rushing to her face faster than lightening,

'Shit, shit! [y/n], you dipshit. Are you really asking for a death wish-' [y/n]'s thoughts were cut off by a mere word that left cold male's lips.

"Disgusting."

She quickly let go, squeezing her eyes shut.

"I'm so sorry! I'll just leave you alone!" Goosebumps prickled at her skin, perhaps maybe she was too bold?

'Oh lord, you fucking dingus, [y/n].' She wallowed herself in embarrassment, covering up her face with her hands. Of course, she was, the last thing she wanted was the adeptus being irritated at her, but her curiosity decided to ruin that. With shaking hands, she pushed herself off the floor and stood up. Her fear was filled to the brim, horrified of her own actions; she was lucky enough to walk in her terrified state.

Digging up and hole and concealing herself from the world really felt like a good idea. She was tempted to steal a glance at him, but the world would probably end if she did. A howl of wind whistled, mocking her.

'Fuck my life. [y/n] why the hell would you make a move when you know it's going to end badly?' She mentally yelled at herself; how stupid could she be? She probably will never ever step out of her comfort zone again. Archons above, definitely not after this.

Humiliated, she mumbled another apology and turned towards the staircase to run from reality itself.

'Oh my god, you idiot. Now he probably won't ever fucking talk to you again. My guy, what's wrong with you? Everything, actually. Everything,' She could feel her inner self arguing with her other inner self.

Her eyes widened when long slender fingers wrapped around her wrist, freezing in place. A jolt of panic and dread shook her awake if she wasn't already. She could literally feel Xiao's gaze burning a hole into her back.

'Oh no- I'm too young to die.... Ah, well,' She mentally prepared herself for the worst of the worst.

Cold fingers slipped into the gaps between her fingers, pulling her backwards. She thanked the God that it was night because she knew her cheeks was the deepest shade of red known to humankind. This was certainly not how [y/n] thought it would turn out. A perplexed look mixed with embarrassment was shown on her face as she turned her head towards him until he spoke once again.

"Though, I wouldn't mind mortal affection if it was from you," He whispered, the tone of his voice holding the tiniest bit of affection, it was little, but it was enough for [y/n] to forget all her worries.

His words made her heart flutter, his words were so sincere and for once it was gentle instead of his usual stern tone. She found herself smiling at him, almost beaming with happiness.

Perhaps she could get close to him after all.
