“Get up,” Mr. Newman demanded opening the door. I glared at his from my spot of Jace’s chest. By the small window above us I guessed it was around noon.

“I said get up!” He screamed. Both Jace and I jumped. We climbed to our feet and followed him down the stairs.

“We’re going for a walk,” Mr. Newman muttered.

“Why?” I asked, before Jace could stop me.

“Because, Isabella, those idiots are driving me crazy. So I’ll take you two on a tour of the factory.” He hissed.

I couldn’t help myself. “Do we get a life time supply of chocolate in the end?” Jace groaned beside me.

“You promised you wouldn’t be a smart ass.” He whispered.

“What?” Mr. Newman asked, utterly confused. Then he seemed to get it. “No,”

“So I can’t call you Mr. Wonka?” I said sadly. Jace actually laughed a little.

“No, you can not.” He snapped. “Just go walk around by yourselves. You’re more annoying the idiots!” he stormed off back toward his office.

“Did he really just tell us to explore on our own?” I asked confused. This factory was huge, no way they could find us if we ran now.

“There has to be a catch.” Jace said, unsure.

Then we heard the catch. The catch stood three feet behind us growling.

“That’s a big dog.” Jace yelped when he turned around. He was always afraid of dogs. I always teased him about it, but this time he had a right to be afraid. This dog looked more like a bear. It had big blood shot eyes and sharp drool covered teeth.

“I guess we aren’t getting out today.” I sighed. We started to walk down a hallway, but the big dog blocked the way. Any path we tried to take to get out of the little room we were in, he blocked.

“Alright then,” I shouted at it, giving up. We went over to some crates and sat down.

“Jace,” I whispered. I realized that most of our conversations where starting like this. They all started with me whispering his name and then crying. I wasn’t going to cry this time. I was determined.

“What,” He answered. His voice was filled with tension and stress.

“How much did they want from your father?” I asked him. His muddy eyes stared off into the distance. They didn’t seem to focus.

“Five million,” He told me.

“Can your dad pay that?” Sure his father was rich, and they sometimes slurpged on items, like Jace’s Corvette, but they didn’t just have that sitting around.

“It’ll take him a while to get it, but yeah he can pay it.” He answered.

“What happens if kidnappers don’t get the money they want?” I asked. Fear dripped into my voice. I knew my father would never EVER be able to pay my ransom.

“I don’t know, it’s not like this happens to me often.” Jace said, laughing a little.

“They want five hundred thousand dollars from my father. He can’t pay that Jace, not in a week.” My voice cracked. I wasn’t going to cry, I told myself. The tears began to form anyway.

“Don’t worry,” Was the only thing Jace could come up with. He held out his arms and once again I climbed into his lap and cried. Now not only was I afraid for his life, but mine too.

About a half an hour later Mr. Newman came looking for us. He petted the giant guard dog and threw him a biscuit. I envied the dog of his treat. We hadn’t eaten since Megan’s party last night.

“Come on you two, it’s time for dinner.” He said, starting to leave the room. I guess I was off with my estimate of noon earlier.

“I rather not eat rotten food, if that’s all right with you.” I sneered.

“I went to get supplies this morning, I have some what edible food now.” He answered.

“What does it matter if you feed us? You’re just going to kill me anyway.” Jace snapped.

Mr. Newman looked back at him confused. “What are you talking about?”

“Mark told us you were going to kill me once you had the money.” Jace told him.

“Those flipping idiots, they never listen! I told them that we can’t kill you once we have the money or we’ll never get away. I am going to beat their—“

I stopped listening after I heard that. They weren’t going to kill Jace! It was possibly the most amazing news I had ever heard. We followed Mr. Newman back to the main floor of the factory. Mark, Derek, and Jake sat around a table eating. Mr. Newman handed us both a bowl of some kind of soup and sent us back upstairs into our little room. He locked the door behind us and went back downstairs to scream at his idiots.
