Bet

Hawkins high was no doubt one of the most boring schools in America. And every class made you nearly die of
boredom. But Eddie found ways of making it slightly less boring. For example, he would make bets on things that happen at school.
For instance, which side will win in the football game, what classes will hand out homework, etc..
One day, Steve and robin were at work and talking about school, when she mentioned making a bet with Eddie.
"Wait, you made a bet"
"Yes, I bet that in two weeks or less cooper will get kicked off the football team"
"Really?"
"Yeah, he really sucks at football"
Steve thought about making a bet himself but didn't until he saw how robins bet turned out.
The next day, robin, Steve and Eddie were walking down the hallway to their next class as they saw cooper (the guy on the football team).
"Hey cooper" Eddie yelled as he ran to the boy.
"Hey, how's life man?"
"Well not great, I mean I got kicked off the football team this morning"
Robins celebrated in silence by punching Steve and miming the word 'yes'
"Dammit!"
"Pay up munson"
Eddie regretingly gave Robin $20.
"Pleasure doing business with you"
As eddie walked away Steve ran after him.
"Hey can I make a bet?"
"Woah, pretty boy harrington wants to bet"
"Look man, do you want to or not"
"On what?"
Steve thinks for a minute before answering.
"The basketball game. I bet Lucas makes a shot and wins"
"Sinclair? Ok. $20"
"Make it $30"
Eddie raises his eyebrows in surprise.
"You wanna go any higher?" He says sarcastically.
"Ok. $50"
Eddie scoffs before shaking hands with the blonde.
"Deal"

Steve waits for robin after school to drive her home. But when he told her about his bet she was not on bored.
"$50!? Steve you don't have 50 bucks. You have enough for rent and utilities but that's it."
"Relax. Ok, I know Lucas I will talk to him and tell him to try his best"

The day of the basketball game, Steve started becoming more nervous.
"Ok Sinclair, remember do your best"
"Got it. Thanks Steve"
He went and sat next to robin as Eddie sat on the bench behind them.
"You ready Harrington" Eddie whispered as he clutched Steve's shoulders.
"Oh yeah" Steve said nervously.
The game was going well for Hawkins but Lucas was still on the bench.
"Omg what do I have to do to get that kid on the floor?"
They were cheering on until one of the players for Hawkins had falling and twisted his ankle.
"Sinclair! You're up!" The guy yelled.
"Yes! Lucas" robin and Steve screamed and cheered.
Eddie still sat and said nothing but felt slightly anxious.
The game kept playing but Lucas still hadn't touched the ball.
"Come on, just pass him the his damn ball!" Steve yelled.
Finally Lucas had the ball. 5 seconds before the game ended.
He aimed to the basket. Suddenly the room felt silent but screaming at the same time.
He threw the ball. It hit the the rim of the basket, circling it. Before falling to the side. He'd missed.
"Fuck" Steve sighed.
Eddie laughed before leaning down to Steve's ear. "Pay up pretty boy"
Steve's head filled with regret and anger.
Steve just stood up and left the room.
As he did. Eddie followed him out to Steve's car.
Steve went to get in but eddie stopped him.
"Hey man, what's up?"
"Listen I'm sorry but I don't have $50"
"Then why did you make the bet?"
"Because... because... I don't know"
"I'll tell you why, you liked the rush. The adrenaline. The fear"
Steve didn't know how but eddie was right. He loved the feeling. The feeling that you could lose everything or have everything.
Steve leaned back on the car, and eddie stood in front of him.
He also loved the feeling of being with eddie, but he didn't know why.
Eddie leaned in closer to Steve. Feeling the strong tension between them.
"If you can't give me the money... I guess you'll have to pay me back another way"
Steve looked Eddie in the eyes as he leaned in to kiss him.
Eddie pushed his chest to Steve's and grabbed his waist.
Steve held the back of eddies neck and felt the curls of his hair between his fingers.
They parted for a second.
"My place" Steve said.
They both got in the car and drove back to Steve's house.
