(chapter v - a boy-free tomorrow sounds nice)

SELENE TRAVELED WITH the Hunters towards breakfast.

Although she was used to being alone in her cabin, it felt rather nice to have company. Even if the company is pre-teen, men-hating immortal girls.

Still, they were fun to talk with. They didn't seem to dislike her too much, as being a daughter of their patron had it's perks.

One thing that did concern her though was Zoë's outburst last night.

At about three in the morning, Zoë woke up with a loud gasp, running to The Big House like a chicken with her head cut off. Selene was a light sleeper, so, naturally, she followed, only to see Zoë and Chiron talking with hushed tones.

She laughed at first at Chiron's appearance — baby blue pj's with Bunnies on them, as well as pink curlers in his tail, but she soon realized that shouldn't be what she was focusing on.

She overheard Zoë explain to Chiron what had happened — the Hunter getting a dream about her very own mother, Artemis.

And it was not a good one.

"My mistress is captured," Zoë had growled. "And you want us to stand here and do nothing?"

"Grabbing your Hunters and running off into the night is not wise, Zoë." Chiron had said. "We shall talk about this tomorrow, when your head is clearer."

And he left it at that.

Only problem — now, it was tomorrow.

And it was clear Zoë wasn't wasting any time.

She bolted towards the Dining Pavilion, head high, as the Hunters followed suit. Selene trailed behind, looking more like a lost puppy than anything.

She spotted Percy at the Poseidon table, staring blankly at his food. The dark circles under his eyes had darkened, so it was clear he didn't sleep all that well, either.

Selene knew full well about how disturbing demigod dreams could be. Believe her, she's had her fair share before. But she knew both Percy's and Zoë's must've been much, much worse.

If both her mother, and Annabeth were captured, who knows what was going to save them.

Because it certainly was not Selene.

The confidence that she gained yesterday had turned into mist in her mind, fading away and disappearing into nothingness. After hearing Artemis, her mom, get captured...

Well, she didn't see how she could defeat it, if the goddess of the Hunt, couldn't.

Zoë seemed more hopeful than Selene was, though she too looked beaten. During breakfast, Zoë quietly explained her dream to the rest of the Hunters —  and Selene watched helplessly as the light faded from their eyes.

It seemed they all looked lost without Artemis. The gloomy air around the table didn't go unnoticed, as many kids from other cabins (including Percy), looked at them with confused looks.

Selene avoided all their gazes. She was used to this. But the Hunters weren't. Zoë kept glaring at all of them, while Bianca tried to hide her tears.

"Lady Artemis would want thee to remain hopeful," Zoë said. "This is what we shall do. We will not let some monster tear thy lives to shreds. We are not tied by his chains."

'Yeah, but Artemis is.' Selene thought.

She decided it wouldn't be best to comment that, though.
