(chapter xxx - wanna-be steve harvey)

SELENE, AFTER FIVE minutes, wished she could go join Eurytion and Nico back at the haunted farmhouse. Because, really, anywhere was better than the labyrinth.

It's sharp turns and confusing paths made her feel nauseous. Practically every step, she felt there was a monster — hiding in the shadows and just waiting for her to let her guard down so they could eat her.

She really hoped that wasn't the case.

Annabeth still was attached at the hip — grabbing Selene's arm and squeezing it every time she saw the robot spider. Surprisingly,  she didn't really mind it much anymore — in fact, she was expecting her to do so. She was just glad Annabeth was hanging with her and not Percy — they all know he would've pushed her towards the thing, and that would've ended bloody.

"Why couldn't that thing just — just be a dog, or something?" Annabeth complained with a groan — walking really slowly, in hopes not to catch up with the spider. Selene dragged her along and sighed.

"Annie, it's not that bad — it's not even real."

"It — It looks real! It looks like a fucking black widow!"

"Black widows aren't even silver!?"

"You guys!" Percy called out — interrupting the duo. Him, Tyson and Grover were a little ways ahead of them — and he waved them over.

Annabeth and Selene exchanged confused looks, but followed — turning before coming face to face with a black, never-ending abyss. One that Selene almost fell down.

"Woah!" Percy lunged forward, his arm wrapped securely around her waist, softly pulling her back into his chest. Selene thanked him with a smile — stepping back to give him space, after, much to his dismay.

"So...what is this?" Selene asked, confused.

"It's monkey bars, dumbass," Percy said with a grin. "I'm great at these. I was the best back when I was in school."

"Oh yeah?" Selene questioned with a smirk. "I bet I'm better."

Percy raised a brow at her words. He turned to her and leaned down slightly, to match her height. "Are you challenging me, Star Girl?"

Selene laughed. She grabbed Percy's Camp Half-Blood T-shirt, and tugged down on it, causing their lips to get dangerously close. Percy's lips parted slightly, and he remained silent as she said,

"You bet your ass I am, Barnacle Boy."

Without another word, Selene pulled away — hopping up on the first iron bar. She swung beautifully — skipping one or two bars once in a while (mostly just to show off), and landing safely and gracefully on the other side.

She yelled, "Keep up!", to the group on the other side — hoping they heard as she ran after the spider. The last thing she saw was Percy starting the monkey bars before she turned the corner to catch the spider.

Soon enough, she heard footsteps running behind her. She turned, and stopped — Percy running up to meet her. She assumed Annabeth and the others were behind — Annabeth probably still being too scared to even look at the robot-spider...thing?
