(chapter vii - selene is convinced she needs to buy percy jackson repellent)

"ZOË, WE'RE GONNA get pulled over if you keep driving," Thalia grumbled, sinking further into the passenger seat.

"Does thy want to have a go at driving?" Zoë shot back.

Thalia turned red. "Well — no!" She spluttered. "I'm just saying — you look so...young."

Selene snorted.

Everyone turned to look at her.

"Sorry." She muttered.

Thalia glared at her, before resting back in her seat.

In the back, Bianca was in the middle, Grover and Selene on either side of her. Zoë took initiative of driving, while Thalia stole shotgun.

After that interaction, they all stayed quiet. Zoë continued south like a crazy person, passing New Jersey and not taking a rest stop 'till they reached Maryland.

Selene hopped off of the van, sliding the door shut once Bianca and Grover exited. She stretched, rather enjoying the warm Sun cascading off her back.

Back at Long Island, the Sun was covered in clouds. But as they moved more south, the snow started to melt and the Sun started to burn brighter and brighter.

"Now is not the time for yoga," Zoë stated blankly, staring at her.

"Gods, Zoë," Selene groaned. "Lighten up."

Zoë looked offended. "I was being....star-castic."

"Oh," Selene replied, confused on how Zoë could be sarcastic when her voice was as monotone as a robot's. "It's...sarcastic, by the way."

Zoë scoffed, walking off with Bianca towards the convenience store.

Selene rolled her eyes, but followed. She didn't need anything, but ever since they left Camp Half-Blood, she's felt like somebody was...watching her.

It was a small thing annoying her at first, but it got so big to the point she didn't want to be alone. She kept glancing around anxiously, afraid that something...or someone would step out of the shadows and snatch her.

Like....

The man from the shadows. In her dream.

That was still bothering her. Having that dream was just a nagging reminder that her best-friend and mom were captured by a creepy shadow man and a blonde haired hypocrite.

Who knows what they were going to do with them.

Once they finished at the store, they walked out, and immediately she felt that strange feeling again.

She wanted to tell Thalia, but...

She didn't want to seem scared. Or weak.

This was her first quest. She needed to make everyone proud.

"Grover, are you sure?" Asked Thalia, drawing Selene back to the present.

"Well...pretty sure. Ninety-nine precent."

Thalia gave him a look.

"Okay...eighty-five precent."

"And you did this with acorns?" Bianca asked, in disbelief.

Grover looked offended. "It's a time-honored tracking spell. I mean, I'm pretty sure I did it right."

"D.C. is about sixty miles from here," Bianca said. "Nico and I..." Then, she frowned, as if she lost a very important memory. "We used to live there. That's...that's strange. I'd forgotten."
