"All kids are rebellious,
it's a part of growing up."

Sirius Black crashed through the high and heavy entrance doors of the castle with his cloak flowing. This was definitely not the first time he had done this, and it had almost become the order of the day in the time of the marauders, so that hardly anyone was surprised.

It was different now, all pairs of eyes were directed at the entrance in fright, but Sirius hardly seemed to mind. Furious, he sat down on one of the cold steps in the entrance hall and buried his head in his hands.

"Sirius?" a voice asked him in wonder, and he didn't even have to look up to know who was interrupting his crisis. "Leave me alone, Moony."

His friend's eyebrows had furrowed in alarm and he didn't quite seem to know what had knotted his wand this time. After all, Sirius had told him, just to get a quick drink. "Did something happen?"

"Serena," he merely pressed out through gritted teeth. The crease between Remus' eyebrows deepened before realisation hit him. His facial muscles sagged and he sighed. "Sirius, she's just at an age..."

"She kissed that guy. In front of me!", Sirius interrupted him, hissing, watching the corners of the miserable wolf's mouth begin to twitch in front of him. His anger condensed as his so-called friend smirked, "Sounds like something you would have done in the past."

"But I hated my parents!" he groaned and rose to his feet. Ruffling his hair, he was now pacing back and forth in front of the stairs. Seeking help, he looked to Remus, who was now looking at him sympathetically. "She doesn't hate you."

"You heard what she said earlier," he returned bitterly. "I'm nothing more to her than a stranger who wants to interfere in her life."

"Then don't interfere," was Remus' advice. "At least not in this matter. Serena is old enough."

"It..." began Sirius stammeringly, sinking down onto the steps once more, where he rested his head in his hands. "It's not that."

Remus looked as if he wanted to retort something, but seemed to decide against it and remained silent. Apparently he didn't have the slightest idea what was going on inside him, but how could he. Sighing, Sirius looked up at him. "I'm only trying to protect her."

"Is that why you're in the library every day? Does it have something to do with it?" asked Remus hesitantly, sitting down next to him. Sirius just nodded and stared at one of the cracks in the floor. It had been clear to him that his now almost daily visits to the lavishly furnished library of the house would not completely pass his roommate by.
