Kunikuzushi pov:

"You- Do not close you eyes! Hey! Open your eyes right now!"

I held her shoulders and shook her multiple times.
"Wake up please!"
I was shouting in her face. She laid like a dead person in my arms.
I almost cried in relief when I heard her heart beating.

I held her tightly and carried her.
Quickly, I walked to the room and placed her on her bed.

I made sure she was properly tucked beneath her blanket, then hurried towards the kitchen and got a cold wet cloth, and then I ran back to her room and placed it on her forehead.

I did not notice the way I instinctively checked her pulse every moment.

My hands clutched her blanket as I kneeled down in front of her bed, waiting for her to wake up.

"It's not fair..."

My eyes opened again as I looked towards her. She spoke. However she was still unconscious.

"Y/n?" I called.
She did not respond.

"Y/n, what is not fair?" I asked her unconscious self.
No response.

I sighed and rested my head on her bedside.

3rd pov:

"Hey- What's wrong?! Say something!"

"You promised me we could be family!"

"Haha... you're no different from Niwa and the others..."

"You betrayed me too."

A laugh echoed in the room.
The dead child in front of him only made his blood boil.
In grief of course... but also anger, betrayal, and the huge feeling of abandonment.

This was the last straw.

He sat for a while in the room, letting what felt like flames engulf his body. He didn't bother move as he felt annoyed and tired.

Finally, he stood up, he threw the doll in his hand away and marched out of the house.

His jaw was clenched, as well a his fist.

He walked down the street with an angered face.

Kabukimono pov:

I pushed past people, didn't care if it bothered them.

Get out of my way worms.

They are all the same. You can't trust any of these humans.

Disgusting... filthy... traitorous... little-

My shoulder bumped with a random person.
"Oh i'm sorry-" the person apologized, but as my glare hit them, they stopped and instead kept walking away.

A small smile formed on my face as I imagined the whole city burning.
I just kept walking, hoping to soon leave this wretched city.

I could've sworn I saw a person turn their head towards me as we walked past each other.

And then a few seconds later. I felt someone tug on my sleeve, causing me to stop in my track and escape from my bad thoughts.

"Excuse me?" A voice asked.

I turned to face her. "Can I help you?" I asked her.
I got eye contact with the woman, and somehow... I felt my fist loosen.

She seemed to think for a few moments. Perhaps her plan wasn't to stop me on the streets.

She then let go of my sleeve and reached her hand out to me.
"Y/n." She greeted herself.

Why would she be greeting me?

I don't want anymore people in my life.

Go away.

"Your name sir?" She asked me. She seemed kind. But I was confused.

"K... it's K-" I didn't speak further.
Kabukimono... I hate it. The name they gave me.

She chuckled as I had stopped. "I'm sorry to bother you like this... I didn't plan out how this was going to go..." she said in a low tone.

I didn't speak. Why are you talking to me?

She cleared her throat. "Kunikuzushi." She simply said.

"What?" I asked, giving her a confused glance.

She smiled at my reaction. "Kunikuzushi is a pretty name sir." She said gently.

I looked even more confused. "That's... it's not my name..." I said.

"Yes it is." She answered again, giving me a very blank smile.
I felt a weird atmosphere around us.
"It is a pretty name..." I said. What is up with this girl?

"Nice to meet you, Kunikuzushi. Would you mind if I called you Kuni for short?" Y/n asked me.

"I wouldn't mind at all."

Kunikuzushi pov:

My head was resting on the bedside as I thought about the past. She named me that day.

She was confusing. From the moment I met her, I felt like she had known me my whole life.

I know she basically tricked me into our friendship, but I don't mind it.
She gave me a new name, she did it in a strange way, but still...

It was as if she was some sort of guardian angel...
She arrived in my life at the perfect time. If she hadn't been there that day... I don't know what kind of person I would've been.

It's almost as if she knew... maybe she did...
I didn't care though.

She has been sick a few times recently. But it never got bad enough to the point where she was coughing blood.

Suddenly, I felt her arm twitch, and my head shot towards her.
"Y/n!" I called to her. She moved and slowly sat up. She looked towards me.

"Why are you crying Kuni?.." she whispered.

Was I really?

She raised her hand to my face and wiped my tears away. "Don't cry..." she whispered again.

Y/n pov:

Kuni immediately started wiping his tears away.
"Y/n... you're finally awake..." he said.

"Was I out for long?" I asked.

"Thankfully not." He said and embraced me, resting his head in my neck.

"I will protect you... just please get better..." he whispered to me.

I hope I will.
I know what I have to do.
But the thought of doing it, scares me.
