I barely managed to slide my way towards him as his sword slid across mine and stabbed the dirt. A speck of the purple substance floated towards my eye before I blinked and it disappeared. "Shit, I feel kind of dizzy," I muttered, staring directly into Cameron's eyes.
I only did that so I could regain consciousness, since Cameron's eyes were intimidating enough to get my attention. It was the kind of intimidating that would scare the shit out of you. Like the part right before the jump scare in a horror movie. One thought crossed my mind; and it felt like one that wasn't mine. "Kill. Rebel."
My eyes widened. What the hell?
Cameron's eyes widened too. "Fuck," he cursed. "I've got to get rid of you."
A stun bullet hit Cameron in the arm, and a net shoved him away from me. He made the net disappear, but not quick enough for me to scramble to the rest of my teammates. "Thank the transporting system," Charlotte panted. "We made it in time..."
"Damn, Iris, you haven't looked this messed up after a fight since you fought those ten elite members by yourself," Dylan said. "How strong is that guy?"
"Apparently strong enough to have his teammates hold mine back and do nothing else," I gritted my teeth, then turned to Zephyr. "More importantly, let's get Zephyr."
Austin and Wyatt went to intercept Cameron, who said, "You're not as fast as Iris," as the rest of us went to go attack the group holding Zephyr hostage. The four people that had thrown Zephyr's weapons to the side suddenly broke formation to defend themselves from us. I lunged and then sped past a blonde girl, and Avery took my previous position. "Zephyr, here!" I yelled, grabbing his weapons and giving them to Zephyr.
"Thanks," he replied, looking into my eyes.
"What is it?" I asked, looking back at him as he grinned.
A thought flashed through my mind: If only I was strong enough to save you.
Then I thought, "Wait, that wasn't me, was it?"
"I've got to go get her," Cameron yelled as he kicked Wyatt away. "She has it."
"Has what...?" I muttered, thinking about the kill and rebel thought.
"You're not going to get Iris," Austin argued. "I have more forces coming right this way. The crimes are being solved."
"Yeah," a blonde girl said. "And Cammy can take them all on and win."
"Look into my eyes," I demanded, looking in Cameron's direction.
"Fuck," Cameron growled, looking away.
"I want to see what happens," I said.
He squeezed his eyes shut, and very quietly, Austin tackled Cameron. "Ugh, shit. Guys, we need to leave, now," one of the other guys said.
"Are you fucking stupid?" the blonde girl told her teammate as Cameron shook Austin off. "What if that girl makes the power stronger?"
"Listen, Alexandria, even for Cameron, fighting with his eyes closed is hard," the guy snapped. "Either way that girl's power will develop whether we're near her or not."
"Nick, don't fucking call me by my full first name, it's Alex," Alexandria argued. "Or should I say, Nicholas. Also you only wanna leave so you can have sex with Zoe and the other girls."
"Shut the fuck up!" One of the other girls, who has darker blonde hair than Alex, said. "I'm not that person anymore!"
"Wait, Nick, what?!" A brown hair girl shrieked."Yeah, Leanna, it's really fucking true," Alex said. "And Matthew's desperate for Zoe too."
