"I'm pretty glad we all mutually agreed to wake up at 6 am," Brianna said, yawning. "Although my hair's a mess."
"You look fine, Brianna," Reed laughed. "Actually, you look beautiful."
Jack cracked up. "Ooh, she's blushing!"
We were on a huge Skype video chat with each other. It was weird how Skype was able to last this long throughout the ages, but looking at the history of its emoticons fascinated me a lot. "Shut up, Jack!" Brianna screeched, and the rest of us started laughing. "What should we do today?"
"Everything we can, such as chilling with our parents, making amends with people we should've made amends with, hanging out together..." Zephyr listed.
"Then at the end of the day the group can split up and the single ones can hang out together and the couples can chill," Will suggested, a goofy grin on his face. "Who knows what they'll do on their last day of peace for a while."
"Seriously, Will?" I facepalmed.
"Yep!" Will laughed.
"So... parents first, then when the parents go on a date, we can all chill, and then use up the rest of the day for whatever we want," Skylar said. "That's the plan, right? It sounds pretty good."
"Hmm... yeah, that works," Reed said. "Let's go with that. Are everyones' parents up yet?"
"Nope, not yet. But I made them a surprise breakfast," I said. "I'm pretty glad Cameron gave us one day of... happiness."
"It'll get even happier when we succeed," Zephyr said, slightly distantly. "I just know it'll all work out in the end. Oh, and also, my parents are awake already. Mom's the one making the surprise breakfast because she insisted on it and really loves cooking. Dad went far enough to basically say it's her life... which... I don't disagree with."
I liked how he said when we succeed instead of if we succeed. It gave me another touch of hope. "My parents are awake," Brianna cheerfully said. "They planned on bringing me to a cafe later."
Before anyone else continued the discussion, we heard a knock from Skylar's end. "Troy?" Skylar called, looking back at her door. "Is that you?"
"Yep!" Troy opened the door and stepped into Skylar's room. "Skyping the squad, I see."
"Yeah," Skylar smiled, looking back at us.
"Oh yeah," Troy said. "I was just gonna tell you guys that school's canceled for today."
"Are you for real right now?" Skylar excitedly asked."I'm for real. They say it's because of..." Troy dropped his voice to a whisper. "The rebellion."
"I'll be fighting," Skylar said. "Not as much fighting as some of the others here, but I'll be fighting."
"Are you kidding me?" Troy gasped, hugging his younger sister. "Oh my gosh, Skylar, stay safe. If you don't make it, I'll give that guy Cameron a piece of my fucking mind."
"I'll be fine, Troy, I swear," Skylar replied.
"I can't lose you, Skylar. Know that," Troy said.
Troy ruffled Skylar's hair and walked out the room, laughing a bit. "Damn it Troy, I literally just fixed my hair," Skylar groaned.
"So school's out. Meaning more hangout time for the squad," Will commented.
Our phones vibrated. A text from Cameron said: Hope you guys are up early, since this is the day before a great change.
I answered with: Yep, everyone agreed to wake up early, and school got canceled. Enjoy life!
