please pretend chapter xxviii and the previous ending never existed, i'm re-telling everything from chapter xxvii after jake left heeseung on their date night to check on sunghoon.
also, i have to clear the things about sunoo's lover...it's NOT ni-ki. if he is, then ni-ki will be the bad guy here because if you remember, he re-establish his relationship with sunghoon before december and in that time sunoo is already dating his lover. if so, that made ni-ki lying both to sunoo and sunghoon.
but no! ni-ki loved sunghoon whole-heartedly. when he went to japan, they mostly talk through phone calls. however, sunghoon would always talk about jake and that didn't sit right with ni-ki. he DID broke up with sunghoon, in this ending it's not a misunderstanding.
ni-ki broke up with sunghoon because he felt like sunghoon was only blinded by the years of his “friendship” with jake, when in fact sunghoon actually is in love with him...and ni-ki hopes sunghoon will realize that after their break-up.
so yeah, ni-ki broke up with sunghoon and no sunki in this book.

-jake has become his safe haven, although he kept making mistakes jake is always there for him and he somehow have taken him for granted- but only because he didn't know how to relay his emotions using the right way.
