AN:- To me, Vetri's most genuine characteristic is his maths skill more than his generosity. So, my take on V-S interactions sometime after they have set up routine meetings supervised by Viji. I posted this another forum and have did some minor changes and put it here. Since Sudar is in Tamil medium I have used Tamil words for the math terms and have tried to add meanings at the top. I wrote this before I saw the first meeting episode of Vetri and Sudar. Hence, I had written her as 2nd grade student as she is 7 plus now, but she is only in grade 1 in the serial. Bear with me.

Kanakku is maths
Koottal means addition
Kazhithal means subtraction
Ina matram is carry over from the next digit
Kadam vangara kanakku is problem done using borrowing from next digit.
V- Vetri; S-Sudar; Vi- Viji.

One fine day, Sudar and Viji are sitting in the usual place and Vetri comes there. He sees that Sudar is very worried and almost crying and Viji face was looking a mix of laughter, helplessness and relief at seeing Vetri. (I hope if such a scene is kept, the actress can pull it off!)
V: Sudar paapa! Intha unakku pidicha chocolate! Enda chellam sad-a irukka? Azhutha mathiri irukka? Enna achu? School-la yarachum thittinangala? Ethachum sonnangala? Illai un Abi thittinala (he spits the word Abi)! Abinnu peru vechale appadithan! Nee kavalaippadathe! Yaarunnu sollu. Naan vanthu thatti kekkaren.
S: Athellam illai Vetri! Ennai yaarachum ethavathu sonna, naane avangalai gavanichuduven!
Vi: Amam! Nalla kaiyalayum vaayalayum gavanippa! Ana, ithu vera vishayam!
V: Enna athu avlo periya vishayam Sudar? Neenga sollunganni!
Vi: Atha Avale sollattum! Appothan sariya varum. Sudar Solluda!
S: Sollanuma Vetri? Nee ennai appuram muttalnu solla koodathu!
V: Unnai yarum muttalnu solluvangala chellam! Nee evlo buthisalinnu ellarukkume theriyume? Ennanu sonnathane enakku theriyum.
S: Vanthu innikku kanakku test. Naan 10 mark than vanginen. Ellarum sirichanga enna pathu. Teacher vera thittinanga! Sandai podarathula irukkara interest kanakkula illaiyennu! Naan enna pannatum Vetri? Avangalukku solli tharave theriyalai. Thappu thappa kanakku pottutu ennai solranga Vetri.
V: Appadiya solra? Enna kanakku?
S: Unakku ithu theriyathu Vetri! Ithu romba kashtam! Kazhithal kanakku! Kootal kooda pottudalam! Ithu enga teacher-e thappa podaranga!
V: Ammadi! Sudar paappa bayankara kashtamanathellam padikkareenga pola. Ana, nalla velai kazhithal kanakkunnu sonnenga! Athu enakku konjam theriyum. Neenga teacher enna thappunnu sonnangannu sollunga! Naanum therinjukkaren.
S: Sari! Nee theiryumnu solrathala solren. Analum ithu kashtamanathu than. Naan sonna neeye purinjuppa evvalavu kashtamnu. (Viji couldn't control her laughter – coughs and walks way. Vetri is holding his face innocent – athu than avanukku kai vantha kalai ache!) Intha note-la ezhutharen. 42 lenthu 18 kazhikkanum. Ithukku naan 36nnu vidai ezhuthinen. Athukku teacher thittaranga!
Vetri looks wondrous as if he has seen the 8th wonder of the world. With an amazed expression, asks,
V: aaang! Enga? Ithu eppadi da? Enakku inga pottu kattu! Naanum kathukkaren.
S: Itho paar! 8la 2 pona 6; 4 la 1 pona 3. So 36. Ithu thappunnu solranga Vetri! (Now Vetri couldn't control his laughter. He wipes his face and coughs vigorously! Sudar is worried!) Pathiya! Ithai poi thappu solrangannu unakkum eppadi shock-a irukku! Appadi than enakku irunthathu! Iyo! Intha thanni kudi! Irumal varuthu paru! Abi kashayam vechu kudicha sariyagidumnu solluva! Vijimma nee sollu.
Vetri somehow manages to talk.
V: Illai irukkatum da! Ippo paravallai! Ithai eppadi senja sarinnu teacher sonnangala?
S: mmm sonnanga! Ina matramam! Ore kashtama solli thanthanga. Naan than easya pottutene!
V: Sari Thanda! Naanga ellam padikkarache ithai kadan vangarathunnu solluvom da. Unakku kadan vangarathunna ennanu theriyuma?
S: Kadanna innorutharttenthu vangarathu thane? Athu thappunnu Abi sollitte iruppa! Ana kanakkula appadiyellam seyyalama?
V: A.. mhmm. athu vera vishayam da! Anni! Unga muthal ponnu oru amma mathiri ivalukku ellam sollithara pola irukke! Abbinnu peru vechale advice pannuvanga pola! Sudar! Ithu vera da! Ithu nijamma kadan vangarathu illai. Kanakkukkaga vangarathu. Ippo enkitta 8 chocolate irukku. Unkitta 4 chocolate irukku.
S: Illai! Enkitta 8 irukku! Unkitta 4 irukku.
V: Sari. Appadiye vechukkalam. Ippo Vijimma enkitterunthu 7 chocolate kekkaranga! Illaina ennai ...
S: Abitta solliduvanga! Vera vazhillai! Nee koduthu than aganum
V: Pathiya? Ippo naan enna panrathu? Enkitta 4 thane irukku. Innum evvalvu tharanum? Eppadi tharanum? Neeye sollu?
S: Nee vanthu innum mmmm moonu tharanum. Unkitta illaiye! Naan vena tharattuma?
V: chamathu chellamda nee! Evlo buthisali! Nee enakku 3 chocolate thanthaa athukku peruthan kadan vangi tharathu. Athe thaan kanakkulayum seyyanum.
S: Appadinna eppadi? Ippo chocolate sari! Kanakkula eppadi seyya?
Vetri teaches her with small numbers, pictures and chocolate examples and helps her understand the method. He also gives her few more sums so that she understands properly.
S: Vetri! Nee romba buthisali. Abi than buthisalinnu ninaichen. Neeyum kooda than pola! Ithu varaikkum Abi kanakku solli thantha mattum enakku fulla puriyathu! Avalum konjam solli tharache kashta paduva, kochippa! Mathathellam avalukku ok than. Kanakku than kashtamnu ninaikkaren. Athanala neeye enakku solli thariya?
V: Thanthutta pochu! Sudar paappakku illathatha? Unakku ennikkellam kathukkanumo, enkitta sollu naan kathu tharen.
S: Ana unakku ella kanakkum theriyuma? 2vathu vaguppu kanakku ellam konjam kashtam than.
V: Appadiya solra. Naalaikku unnoda kanakku book note ellam kondu vaa. Padichu pathuttu, therinjathai solli tharenda kanna! Sariya?
S: Sari! Kondu varen.100 vangalainnalum oru 75-80 vanga help pannidu Vetri! Illaina...
V: Abi kochuppa! Athane! 100-e vangalam. Nee kavalaipadathe.
Vi: Sudar ippo polama! Romba thanks! Vazhiellam ore polambal azhugai than. Ippo than sirippe vanthathu. Romba nalla solli kodutheenga!
S: Naan poi Abitta solla poren. Inimel kanakku naane pathukkarennu. Ithai ippo veetula poi pottu kattina romba santhosha paduva. Bye Vetri! Naalaikku pakkalam. Ana daily ithe chocolate venam enna? Udambukku nallathillai. Thank you Vetri.
V: Sari da!
Sudar gives him a hug. At that moment Vetri is relieved that he is not smelling of alcohol or cigarette. Though it was tough for him to give up these habits, Sudar was giving him the motivation to work on his habits. Yes! He felt good after a long time.
There was a smile in Vetri's face when he went back home. If you happened to see his phone screen, yes! you really saw him download 2nd and 3rd grade maths textbook from govt website and was browsing it. I too did observe this. Don't tell anyone. I don't think he wants to lose his street cred yet.
