Martha was livid.

Long manicured nails painfully pinched Lily's small ears and she winced.

Do cousins do this ? Lily wondered.

" What is wrong with you ! " Martha scolded.

Lily was completely drenched and smelt like milk.

" You should've called and asked money for yoghurt instead of sneaking in a factory. What if you fell into a meat grinder instead?" Martha chastised.

" They don't have grinders in a milk factory- "

" Oh ! Shut it, how would you know ! "

Lily managed a remorseful smile.

Martha glared at Lily, a whiff of her smell making her to wrinkle her pointed nose, " Aunt must hear of this ! "

" No, please ! " Lily panicked.

Aunt Molly would surely have her head.

What was she thinking !

They were standing outside a police station, unlike her cousin in Burberry perfume and skin tight Shein dress, she was in an old coat that resembled a donkey's skin with worn out boots that gave her little feet peek-a-boo effect and shamelessly reeked milk that she only managed to swallow a mouthful despite her efforts to steal.

Lily had tripped against the window she had used to get into the premises and then slid against the wall into a large milk reservoir with a mighty splash !

The security was on her the next second.

Martha had parted with a large lump sum for the damage, no wonder she kept pinching her red ears.

" Ow ! That hurts ! " Lily whined childishly.

" Why didn't you call home and ask for money ! You should've said you're fired. What on earth has gotten into you, sneaking into factories like some homeless kid ! "

" I didn't want to worry Aunt Molly ! "

" Oh, you're coming back home with me this instant ! "

Lily got to her knees, " Please no ! Don't tell Aunt Molly, please she'll kill me ! "

" Even if I don't , how would you eat Lord knows you might start hunting roaches ! "

" Add me a week's pocket money, I promise I'm getting a job by this Saturday," Lily promised, too sure of an uncertainty.

Martha sneered.

" You don't believe me ? "

" I think you should go back home, "

" No ! "

" Fine then ! "

With two firm but painful grips on her ears, Lily sprang fast on her feet. The elder cousin dragged Lily to a motel to clean up while chastising her.

***
Lily belched loudly.

She was clean and she was satisfied, what more could she ask for ?

Her small hand resting a top a slightly protruding stomach.

Yes, she had eaten that much.

Lily's droopy eyes darted around the small cafe.

A chuckle made her eyes snap back to her amused cousin, seated across from her.

" You're a messy eater,"

Lily stuck a tongue out at the slender girl.

" It was already a week since she had been kicked out of the diner and this was the first time she was having a proper meal . "

" Back to our conversation, Lily. "
Martha's voice was monotone, she now meant serious business.

Lily warily stared at her.

" You have to come back home, "

She knew what that meant," No. "

" You'll drain me of my finances, I've got rent to pay with many bills. I can't suddenly start funding your bills too ! "

Lily hated that she made sense, regardless she still felt the need of infuriating the glaring girl seated across.

" So you are saying that I'm a bother,"

" No, but you need a plan either come back home or get a job as soon as possible, "

" What job when I couldn't finish my degree because of fees, Martha? "

Martha glared uneasily, " That would be better directed to Aunt Molly not me, dearest cousin. "

Lily was growing bitter, " So I'm the one supposed to do the janitor and cobbler stuff right ? "

" Ask Aunt Molly about that ,"

Martha blew out a puff of air, " That attitude won't help you and you know it, "

Lily silently fumed.

" I'm giving you a week's pocket money, if I hear you've got no job by Saturday... I'm sorry Lily but Aunt Molly will be your portion, "

Martha rummaged about in her purse, retrieved a few notes and slid them against the table to Lily.

She flipped open the news paper she was reading ," You can start with these. "

Large columns of job vacancies littered the page but Lily was momentarily distracted by her cousin's movements.

" I'm leaving, try not to get into too much trouble ," She rose, her model like frame towering over many while her stilettos ushered her out. Red hair like her own bouncing with each step.

Lily huffed.

Who does she think she is.

A puff.

Telling me what to do !

A scoff.

Always Aunt Molly's favorite!

Lily hated that Martha was right. She had to look for a job. She was pocketing the few notes when something on the day's paper captured her attention.
