Later that evening, Lan tiptoed into Noah's room.
Noah had left to purchase groceries at the store.
Lan's eyes darted around looking for Noah's favorite lotion. He spotted the bottle on the circular dressing table.

He grabbed it.

Just as he was about to screw the cap open, Lan heard the creak of a door and familiar footsteps heading to the room.

He will be mad if he finds me in here, Lan panicked.

“ I need to hide, ” he muttered to himself.

Sure enough, the door opened and a humming Noah walked in. He was in a surprisingly good mood despite the turn out of events that week.

Noah suffered deafness in his left ear even though his right ear could hear well, he still perceived sound poorly because it took two to tango.

Noah walked into his bathroom to rinse his face and that is when he heard it.

Shuffle !

Shuffle !

Shuffle !

Noah's shoulders tensed, he was grateful that on that particular occasion, he still had his hearing aid on.

Slowly, he grabbed a broken hanging rod, he always kept behind the bathroom door in plan for future fixing.

Noah walked quietly towards the sound, the closet.

He eyed the wardrobes.

Kept still.

There it was again.

Could it be a rodent ?

Noah wondered, he eyed the wardrobes at the furthest corner in the room then approached with caution.

Anger at the presumed rodent who had ensconced in his precious closet and was probably having a field day tearing his clothes apart.

Shuffle !

Shuffle !

Anger.

Nose flaring.

Noah braced himself, rod tightly in a hand and the other outstretched.

He pulled open the wardrobe door.

The two men screamed.

Lan jumped out.

Noah jumped too.

The unexpected shock making him swing the rod carelessly so that it landed squarely on his friend's face.

“ Owwwww ! ” Lan wailed.

Blood seeped from his nose.

It took Noah awhile to compose himself, that the rodent was indeed Lan, his friend.

He glared at the open lotion bottle on the floor, wasting away.

A new surge of anger, “ Lan ! How many times will I tell you to stop stealing my stuff ! ”

“ Ba, you no share ! Ouch ! ”

Noah looked at Lan, concern filling him at the bloody nose.

“ Think you boke  nose, ”

“ Oh , C'mon ! ” Noah yelled in exasperation.

Noah hated hospitals but again everyone hated hospitals. Who loved a place of sickness and pain anyway ?

He paced the floors, glaring at the blue walls in front of the room Lan had disappeared into with Dr. Parker.

Why hide in the closet anyway?

Noah wondered.

It was true he would have been raging angry if Lan snuck in again to take his lotion but he was right to do so, he paid Lan, handsomely infact then why steal his cosmetics. His friend was getting out of hand.

The door opened and Dr. Parker walked out with Lan in tow.

“ Mr. Noah, sir, I'm afraid that he has broken his nose. It's not severe , the swelling should be able to go down in two weeks. I shall prescribe a few pain relievers for him. ”

Noah stared at Lan in anger.

The boy had the audacity to grin at him.

Noah looked around the hospital in frustration. Lan could not even speak properly all because of his nose.

He sighed, striking him that Lan would no longer be able to translate.

What kind of temptation is this ?

Noah wondered.

He stared pacing.

What would he do?

Who would translate?

His mind flashed back to the lunatic’s email and he threw his hands in the air.
