The moment Dante's lips met mine, a jolt of electricity shot through me, leaving me breathless and wanting more. For a moment, I lost myself in the intensity of the kiss, feeling the depth of his passion and desire.

Yet, as much as I craved his embrace, a wave of rationality washed over me, and I slowly pulled away, placing my hand gently on his chest.

A part of me couldn't help but wonder about his true motives for kissing me. Was it simply an act of impulse, driven by his fondness for his personal assistant, or was there something deeper lurking beneath the surface?

The uncertainty of it all left me feeling both saddened and disappointed. It was evident that Dante still held a powerful sway over me, leaving me to ponder whether there was more to his actions than what appeared on the surface.

I struggled to make sense of my feelings as I found myself irresistibly drawn to him, unable to resist the allure of his seductive presence.

Looking up into his eyes, I saw the same affection and tenderness that he had once shown me during our time together. A flood of emotions washed over me - longing, regret, and pain - as I tried to make sense of the conflicting feelings swirling within me.

My heart ached with the realization that, despite our shared history, we were no longer together, and this fleeting moment of intimacy was all we could ever have.

Turning my gaze away from Dante's piercing eyes, I took a deep breath in an attempt to calm my racing heart. I knew I had to be strong and maintain my distance, for both our sakes.

But, as I looked away, a part of me couldn't help but wonder what might have been, if only things had turned out differently.

"Mr. Harrison, this shouldn't have happened," I said firmly, making sure to keep a professional tone in my voice.

I stared back up at Dante, meeting his gaze as he looked at me. His eyes no longer reflected the adoration that had been there just moments before.

"I apologize," Dante said quietly, his voice calm, breaking the tense silence between us.

"I would like to go back to my room now," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I longed to put an end to our awkward moment and retreat to the safety of my own space.

As I turned to head back to the hotel, a passing woman interrupted my thoughts with an unexpected compliment. "You two are such a cute couple," she remarked, causing my eyes to widen in surprise.

I was about to correct her and explain that Dante was my boss, but before I could say anything, Dante spoke up.

"If you don't mind, she's a bit shy," he replied calmly, wiping my lips as if adjusting my lip gloss. I immediately swatted his hand away as the woman walked away.

"What was that?" I demanded.

"Were you planning to tell a woman who saw us kissing that I'm just your boss?" Dante retorted.

He did have a point.

Dante's mischievous gaze meeting mine made me wonder what the hell he was thinking. It was unlike him to let such an assumption slide, especially since we had always maintained a strictly platonic relationship.

My heart raced as I squared up to Mr. Harrison, ready to confront him about his unacceptable behavior. "I don't know what kind of game you're playing, Mr. Harrison," I said, my voice quivering with anger. "But I suggest you take a good, long look at why your wife left you. Kissing your personal assistants isn't what I would call being a faithful husband."

As the words spilled out of my mouth, my mind raced, replaying countless moments where he might have betrayed my trust in the past. Memories flooded back, particularly the video of him cheating on me, and my blood boiled with a mixture of hurt and rage.

Deep down, I knew I should have kept my mouth shut. But in that moment, I couldn't help myself. Frustration and resentment had been building up within me for far too long, and I couldn't contain it any longer.

"You sound as if you know something I don't," Dante remarked, curiosity evident in his gaze as he looked at me.

I remained silent, unwilling to reveal the depth of my thoughts as I stared into his eyes.

I realized the gravity of what I had just done. My outburst could cost me my job. However, before Mr. Harrison could respond, Dante's phone rang, mercifully interrupting the tension between us.

I exhaled a breath I didn't realize I was holding, grateful for the temporary break provided by the phone call. However, I was acutely aware that the fallout from my outburst was far from over.

A fleeting thought crossed my mind, tempting me to walk away from the situation entirely. Yet, deep down, I knew that avoiding the consequences of my actions would only make the situation worst.

Instead of retreating to my room, I took a deep breath and held my ground, waiting for Mr. Harrison's response. I felt a sense of dread creeping over me, wondering what the fallout from my words would be.

Maybe he would ignore them?

Dante's voice resonated with confidence and authority as he spoke into the phone, his piercing gaze never wavering from my own.

I watched him with a twinge of nervousness, wondering what kind of conversation he was having and what secrets he might be keeping.

"Tell me, do you have the information I need?" Dante inquired, his tone cool and collected, giving little away. Yet, the glint in his eyes hinted at the significance of what he sought.

"Tell me, do you have the information I need?" Dante inquired, his tone cool and collected, yet there was a glint in his eyes that hinted at the significance of what he sought.

As he spoke, it was as if he was speaking in code, each sentence layered with hidden meaning that only he understood, intentionally keeping me in the dark.

"I want everything you know within the next ten minutes; I'll be on my way back to my room to set up a video call," Dante declared, his gaze still unshakable and focused on mine.

The intensity of his demand left me questioning the nature of the information he sought – was it a business deal or something more personal? I couldn't decipher his intentions and wondered what he planned to do with the information once he had it.

"I love hearing good news," Dante chuckled, his eyes sparkling as he looked down at me. His infectious laughter filled the air, but instead of a sense of joy, it left me feeling uneasy and uncertain.

There was something more than just his laughter, his intense gaze, and his subtle, cryptic words. A sense of unease crept over me as I spun around turning my back to him, my eyes widening with a sudden realization.

No, it can't be!

I justified to myself, trying to push aside the nagging thought that had wormed its way into my mind.

It must be something else.

I reasoned, attempting to quell the rising panic.

Yes, it has to be!

There's no way he could find out, not after covering my tracks so thoroughly. But then again, he's a billionaire – surely, he has the means to uncover everything.

I bit my lip, trying to dispel the paranoid thoughts racing through my mind.

No, no, no, stop assuming things and calm yourself, damn it!

I chastised myself, desperately attempting to regain control over my spiraling thoughts.

As Dante continued to speak on the phone, his words seemed carefully chosen, as if he was trying to convey a message to me without revealing too much. The cryptic nature of his conversation left me with the sense that there was so much more to this conversation than met the eye.

Little did I know, my reflection in the aquarium's glass was being carefully observed by Dante.

I'm curious as to what knowledge Dante will soon receive. 🤔
