Hailee and I have been divorced for 2 years now. The divorce was a mutual decision, since we both felt that our relationship wasn't healthy anymore. You see ever since our daughter turned 4 we've been fighting non-stop. One night while we were fighting our daughter walked in, she was scared and confused. That was kind of the point of realisation. A month later we were divorced.

The divorce hurt because we still love each other. We decided to still stay friends because of our daughter. We don't want her growing up thinking we hate each other.

Currently Hailee is on her way to my house because it's our daughters birthday tomorrow and she's going to sleep over since our daughter wanted that. Of course both of us agreed, because we want her to be happy.

"Where is mommy?" Kate whined as we watched out of the window trying to spot Hailees car

"She'll be here soon" Just as those words left my mouth someone unlocked our door

"Mommy!" Kate exclaimed running in Hailees arms

"Hey princess" Hailee smiled as she wrapped her arms around our daughter

I stood behind them and smiled.

"Hey" I said as Hailee pulled me in a friendly hug

"Hey" she whispered once we pulled away "what do you want to do?" She turned her attention back to Kate

"Can we watch a movie? Please" Kate smiled

"Of course we can angel" I smiled at her as we made our way in the living room

Hailee and I sat on the opposite ends of the couch and Kate sat in between us. We quickly found a movie and watched it.

In the middle of the movie I noticed Kate was asleep.

"Hailee?" I whispered

"Yeah?" She whispered looking at me

"Kate's asleep" I whispered as we both looked at our daughter "I'll take her to her room"

"No don't. Let me" Hailee said as she stood up

"Ok" I smiled

She picked Kate up and brought her to her room. After a couple of minutes she came back and sat back down on the couch, this time a little closer to me.

"I can't believe she's turning six tomorrow" I exhaled leaning my head back on the couch

"Yeah it's crazy" Hailee smiled copying my actions

"It's like she was born yesterday" I smile slightly turning my head towards Hailee

"Yeah, you remember when you told me you were pregnant?" Hailee smiles turning her head so we're making eye contact

"Of course I remember" I laugh "we were so excited to be parents" I add smiling as I remember that day

"That was the best day of my life" Hailee confesses

"Hey, what about our wedding day?" I playfully hit her arm and laugh

"Okay, okay second best" She smiles and we just sit there in silence our eyes still locked on each others "you seeing anyone?" She finally breaks the silence

"Nope" I shortly respond "you?"

"No" she smiles "can i tell you something?" She adds scooting a little bit closer to me so our arms are touching
