The wind blows waiving my hair side to side. People below me pulling up their hoods up so the wind doesn't mess up their hair.

After tossing and turning for hours the tense feeling still doesn't leave even on the balcony as I listen to peaceful chatter from the town square.

The only source of light being the moon and the stars make it harder to make out the people walking through the town square.

My gaze flickers over to the end of the town square noticing and unusual figure. Squinting my eyes I try to make out who the figure is, unfortunately I can only make out the outline of the figure.

Their back is leaning against the car behind them, carefully observing the different people in front of their gaze.

Even though there isn't much light it's like this figure is absorbing all of it. The pavement under their feet almost bent from the usage of it.

I try to turn my gaze away from the shaded figure but a small flicker of a lighter immediately grabs my attention again.

The flame is small and round resting against what seems to be their lips. The light from the cigarette makes the shadowy figure almost recognisable but only for a split second not giving me a chance to make out if it's a man or a woman.

A slight flash from a car highlights a black hoodie on their torso. My eyes scan down noticing black jeans which perfectly match the hoodie. Their left hand is tucked in the left pocket of the black jeans.

Their gaze flickers over to my eyes holding intense eye contact. Still holding eye contact they bring the cigarette back to their lips taking another puff of smoke and releasing it before throwing it down lighting it off by stepping on it.

I swallow hard trying my best to keep eye contact but their intimidating stare makes me uncomfortably fidget with my fingers.

The tense feeling from earlier tonight slowly creeps out of my senses out into the atmosphere creating it more tense than it was.

Still holding eye contact the reach into their pocket pulling out a mobile phone. The light from the phone allows me to finally make out that it's a woman.

She types in a number and brings her phone up to her ear returning her gaze to me. A slight smirk tugs on her face as she waits on the phone.

Suddenly a ring from my phone pulls me from the figure. I turn my head sideways to a small table where my phone rests.

Turning back to the woman I see her signaling with her hand for me to pick up the phone.

I swallow hard taking a step sideways taking my phone of the coffee table noticing an unknown caller. My shaky hands press accept and I bring the phone up to my ear.

"H-hello?" I stutter

"Y/n. It's nice to hear your voice darling" she says as I immediately recgonize her deep voice

"Hailee?" I whisper almost as if I didn't believe it

"Yes darling?" She whsipers, I turn my gaze back to her noticing a smirk spread across her face

"H-how d-id you--" I stutter not even knowing what to ask first

"How did I what? Find you?" Hailee chuckles darkly. I swallow hard not answering. "Well darling you thought you could hide from me... run away from me... But I told you no matter how far you run I will always find you"

"B-but I--"

"You what? Moved to London in hope of running away from me... Started a job in a local grocery store. Got a small studio, and a dog whose name is Teddy if I remember correctly...." Hailee explains with a smirk still spread on her face as she notices fear spread across my face.

"Hailee...." I start but she cuts me of again

"Oh wait this is the part where you beg me to leave you alone" she chuckles "But guess what darling. I. Will. Never. Leave. You. Alone. You are mine Y/l/n" She rasps angrily squeezing her phone.

"Hailee please don't.. Please go, please" I plead as tears pool in the corner of my eyes

"I told you darling begging won't work. Do me a favour and leave the front door open, it will make it easier for me and for you" With that she hangs up and starts walking towards my building.

I let a tear fall as fear completely overtakes me. Hurriedly I run to the front door locking it and placing a chair under the lock so she can't break in.

Last time she did this I locked my door and she just broke in so a little bit of protection won't hurt.

Hailee and I dated a couple of years ago. The relationship started off as healthy but that changed really fast after the emotional and physical abuse she put me through.

I endured the abuse for months because of the love I had for her the love I still have for her. When I left for the first time I didn't run far away. She found me in the first month and somehow made me come back to her promising she will change. Of course I feel right under her spell and went straight back to her.

This was my second time leaving. I completely left America and moved to London found a job and got a small studio apartment. I've been living here for almost a year now and therapy I've been doing seemed to help with all the stuff that happened to me.

The memories of Hailee were finally fading and a light of hope finally shined. The same light turned off like a cigarette when I heard her voice.

A loud knock on my door made me jump. I know it's Hailee I've heard that aggressive knock too many times to forget it.

With a loud thud of the chair falling down Hailee agressively enters my apartment.

"Hello darling" she smirks closing the door
