Milla's pov

I woke up feeling light and energized from my sleep. Wait. Was I asleep? I look around and notice. How long was I out?

"Good morning."

I look and saw Mom at the doorway carrying a tray containing my breakfast, orange juice, and of course my medicine. I look at my bed and noticed a hazy crimson energy barrier around me.
"What is this?" I asked.

Wanda set the tray down on the bedside table.
"I've put you under a chaosleep." The redhead said.
"Chaosleep?" I asked.
"Yes. It was a state of sleep and rejuvenation magic to recharge your energy. You have been exhausted and sick." Mom said.
The ginger flicked her fingers to remove the energy cocoon from the bed. I breathed out some air as the boundness and fatigue disappeared slowly from my body.

"Either school has been heavy-loaded or our recent timeline-traveling has drained you," Wanda said.
"Yeah... That may be it.." I replied. In the back of my head, I'm worried that she'll bring out the thoughts that escaped carelessly earlier. I turn my gaze away and pretend to look at something else to divert my attention.

"Milla?"
Oh no...
I refused to look at her.
Mom tilted my head to face her.

"Darling please look at me," Wanda said. I did but since my personal energies have been restored it displayed my true sentiments.
"Your thoughts have been whispering to you isn't that right?" Wanda said.
I nodded guiltily.
She also nodded.

"I'm lost," I said out of the blue. It just came out.
"I know sweetie, I know." Wanda cooes as she comforted the teen.

Wanda's pov

One of the disadvantages of city life as a single parent is that you're time is always occupied and even if you think you've got everything in check there is always one tiny slip that you did not know you missed. In my case, this is what's going on inside Milla's head. How could someone like me? Who could read minds missed the one that is my daughter's?
She's experiencing an identity crisis that she has been harboring since I was sent away.
"Milla?" I said as I tilted her head so she could look at me directly. The kid is trying her best to distract her thoughts. But there's no escaping this topic. We need to talk about it.

I held her close, “My dearest Milla, you and your brothers, Billy and Tommy, are my precious children, and nothing can ever change that. Even in another timeline, in a different universe, I gave birth to you, and I held you in my arms as a baby. I watched you grow and nurtured you with all my love and care. I protected you fiercely and defended you with all my might until my very last breath, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat,” I said.
Milla's eyes looked at me as if pleading for answers.
“Your father, Victor Vision, may have played a part in bringing you into this world, but it was my body that created you. Every part of you, every ability you possess, came from me. You are my flesh and blood, and I am so proud of everything you have become. Even as you grow older and start your own family, you will always be my baby girl, my only daughter... ” I continued.

Milla's blue orbs turned misty.

As I held her gently in my arms, I noticed how heavy her sobs were. It was as if she had been carrying them for a long time, hiding behind her sunny smiles and calm demeanor. The rain started falling, and I could hear it pattering heavily against the roof of our house and the other houses nearby. Milla had already noticed the dim sky, even before the thunder awakened her from her sleep. Suddenly, a thick lightning bolt lit up the sky, crackling and extending its bright branches across the horizon. It was a terrifying sight, unlike any regular thunderbolt.
