FOREWORD
Initially, this project had been one to kick-start me back into writing. A project that was initially meant to be 50,000 words in length soon ballooned into one that was over 100,000 words long, which also took twice as long as expected to write.
This is the writer's version of a project going over budget. If I hadn't restrained myself, I could've easily justified this project ending up twice as long as it currently is. Likewise, around halfway through this story, I had become demotivated and realized that I was absolutely going to hit a time over-budget. But, I did not want to abandon it; I've had too many projects that I started but never completed. I wasn't going to let that happen again.
In addition, a lot of the 14-month-long period that required writing this story was also spent in doing strenuous amounts of research for future stories. The spiritual successor to No Step On Slime, which is my next project, might be anywhere from 200,000 to 300,000 words in length.
Regardless, writing this story definitely did its job in bringing me back into writing. I've had fun writing it, and I hope you have fun reading it.
