Joel's Perspective-

"Joel...there's something I need to ask you."

My heart started to rush as I looked at Etho.

"I- do you wanna go out with me?" Etho asked.

My eyes widened and my face turned red.

"I- you...what?"

Etho scratched his neck, not looking at me as he said,

"I...I really like you, Joel. You're so funny, and put people in front of yourself, and you have a super cute dog."

Joel laughed, "You just want my dog."

Etho chuckled before turning to me, blush filled his face.

"So...do you wanna go out with me sometime?" He asked.

I froze, my heart racing.

Was this really happening?

Was my crush actually asking me out?

I saw Etho's smile fade a bit, "Joel?"

I snapped back.

"Yes." I said, "Y-yeah, I wanna go out with you."

Etho smiled and we both stood there, looking at each other.

The bell then rang, making both of us jump.

"Uh- well I'll text you later with the details." Etho smiled, waving goodbye to me as he walked off to his class.

I walked to my biology class, a smile on my face.

At home, I was sitting at my desk, texting Etho about our date on Saturday.

'I have an idea for Saturday. I think it'd be fun. My mom used to take me to them all the time.' Etho texted me.

'What is it?' I asked.

'It's a surprise. My mom can drop us off there. How about 1:30 on Saturday?'

'Works for me!'

I smiled and blushed as I looked at our messages.

I started to wonder what Etho had in mind, and I got a bit nervous.

I hope it's not a horror movie. I always hated those.

I then heard the front door open, and my mother's voice enter the home, signaling that she was back from work.

I walked out of my room and smiled as she hugged me.

"Hi Joel! How was your day?" She asked me.

I smiled stupidly, thinking about Etho.

"Oh? What happened? You haven't smiled like that since you got a date with Lizzie."

She then gasped.

"Is this about Etho?" She asked, smiling as I nodded.

"That's great, sweetie!" She smiled, hugging me tightly.

"Ugh- mom! Don't hug me so tight!"

But this only made her hug me tighter.

"I don't know if anyone told you, but breathing is overrated."

I laughed and hugged back.

"I'm so proud of you." She said, wiping a tear from her eyes.

I chuckled and then we walked to the dining room where my father was making dinner.

I could barely sleep that night, too excited for what Etho had planned.
