Days had passed and she hadn't heard from Harry, which made her feel as if she had been stabbed in the heart. She thought the letter would have moved him even a little, but it didn't. She felt like crying most of the time, and the only person who could make her feel better was Andrew.
—Better?— the boy asked, when her sobs subsided. The princess nodded, snuggling better into the crook of his neck as he stroked her back.
—Thank you— she murmured.
Ever since he had seen her crying a few days ago, he had not left her side. He was very attentive to her, which made Victoria's feelings even stronger. She could feel thousands of butterflies fluttering in her stomach when they were together, which made her wonder again and again if she was in love. She knew she had to talk to her mother about it, so she decided not to confess her feelings to her for the time being.
—Do you want to go for a walk?— Andrew asked, snapping out of her thoughts. Victoria nodded getting up from her side to go to the small dressing table and apply some concealer under her eyes as sleeping for a couple of hours was taking its toll on her. Anyone who had met her before could swear that the person in the mirror was not Victoria.
The couple walked out into the large gardens of the boarding school, where, thanks to the vegetation, they could breathe fresh air.
Andrew had the same feelings for the princess, and the urge to tell her was very strong, but he would understand if she wasn't ready and would respect that.
—It feels good to be here— Victoria commented with a smile. The boy smiled back, as he was happy that she was feeling better after all the crying she had done a few minutes ago.
—Why are you doing this?— asked the chestnut, staring at the boy, who raised his eyebrows without understanding what she was referring to.
—What?— he questioned, confused, making her sigh.
—Why are you supporting me? Nobody is, not even my parents, they are all disappointed because I was so convinced that it would work...— she said with tears in her eyes. Andrew pulled her to his chest and wrapped his left arm around her waist as he stroked her hair with his other hand.
—No one is disappointed. You just did what you thought was right— he comforted her.
The boy's words made her feel much better, for which she was mentally grateful. As soon as she realised they were in public, she broke away, not wanting to have another scare like the last time. Although she was very comfortable in his arms.
—I know my parents are angry— she sighed. She knew they were right, which made her feel very guilty.
—Your parents love you, Vic— he said, trying to talk some sense into her. But she didn't think so.
Like almost every night before bed, Kate and William called her to see how her day had gone. The couple could see the sadness in their firstborn, which broke their hearts. They wanted the letter to have worked, not just for them but for Victoria.
—Hi mum— she said with a fake smile, which Kate noticed right away.
—What's wrong Vic?— she asked worriedly, she hated seeing her daughter like this.
—Do you think we could talk one day, just the two of us?— asked the teenager as she wanted to talk to her about her feelings with Andrew. Although she felt more comfortable talking to her friends she knew that her mother had the best advice about boys.
—Of course, I'll arrange it— she replied with a smile. That Victoria wanted to talk to her was a big breakthrough, so she was very happy.
They continued talking for a while longer as William eyed his wife warily, but she just decided to ignore him and continue listening to the princess.
