The entire family made their way to the airport where two private planes were already waiting for them. Thanks to royal protocol, William and Victoria could not travel on the same plane, so Catherine, Victoria and Louis would be on one while William, George and Charlotte would be on the other.
As it was a long journey, the teenager fell asleep almost as soon as they took off, which always made her mother laugh. Louis, on the other hand, was much more mobile, so Catherine had to play with him before he could finally fall asleep.
Victoria had hoped to be able to talk to her mother during the flight, as she knew it would be one of the few times they would be able to talk quietly, but when she woke up she could see her sleeping soundly with Louis next to her. She took the book out of her backpack and began to read it, hoping to find the right moment.
But in the end, the pilot ended up waking them up with the announcement that they were going to land. Victoria sighed, but tried to convince herself that she would find another time to talk.
When they arrived at the big house, the children left all their things behind to try to get the best room, although the adults then decided which room would be which, according to what was convenient for them.
After some bickering over rooms, they all ended up putting on their swimming costumes and went to the private pool that the house had. Kate stayed on the sunbed sunbathing, while William played with the children.
The next day Catherine, Victoria and Charlotte went to the beach while the boys stayed by the pool. They wanted to spend time with each of their children, so they decided to split up.
—Mum— Victoria calledm —Can I have this?— she asked, putting on her best face as she held up a short blue summer skirt.
—Okay— replied the woman, earning a big smile from the teenager.
Charlotte got a stuffed turtle, so they paid for both and finally they could touch the white sand of the beach. The girls ran to the sea while the woman watched them from the hammock.
—Kate?— she heard a voice behind her, which made her turn around instantly.
Willem was standing beside her with a smile on his face, which surprised the princess greatly as she had not seen him for many years. But she was glad to see him, so she got up to give him a big hug.
—How have you been?— asked Catherine with intrigue.
The man told her that he had been married, but unfortunately had been divorced a few months ago and was fighting for custody of his three-year-old son. So he had gone to the beach to relax.
They talked for a while more catching up on their lives and the woman thought it would be a good idea for the three of them to go out for dinner so they could talk more quietly, which the man readily agreed to. She knew she should have asked William first, but she thought he wouldn't mind.
—Who was that?— asked Victoria, taking a seat in the hammock on her mother's right side.
—One of my ex-boyfriends— Kate replied a little embarrassed, causing the teenager to raise her eyebrows, she had met some of her father's exes, but she didn't remember meeting her mother's.
The teenager decided not to continue with the subject and stayed reading with the gentle breeze brushing her face, listening to the waves crashing on the shore. Charlotte stayed on the sand playing until she decided to lie down next to her mother.
To enjoy the day, the three of them ended up in the sea, most of the time playing with a pink water ball and a doughnut mat.
—How are you my sweetheart?— asked Kate, approaching her as she was looking quite distracted.
