—His Majesty is waiting for you for tea— announced one of the guards as he arrived at the palace.
As she followed the guard she couldn't help but feel nervous, she sensed that her father had told her about the incidents of the past few days. Her grandfather never scolded her, but she feared this was the first time.
—Hello grandpa— she gave him a weight on the cheek and gave him a little bow.
—How are you, darling?— he asked with a smile as he took a seat in an armchair lined with green velvet.
—I'm fine. How are you?— she tried not to focus his conversation on her, which his shoulder noticed and he let it pass for the moment.
—I'm great. Preparing for the coronation— he replied enthusiastically.
Victoria smiled, waiting for him to tell her more about it. —Will it be at Westminster Abbey?— she asked, and the monarch nodded.
—I'm thinking that you and William will make a little speech as the next heirs— the teenager looked at him with wide eyes as she didn't expect it —Only if you want to, no one will force you to do it— he clarified taking a sip of her tea.
Charles explained to her what it consisted of and the teenager liked the idea, but the chestnut told him that she would think about it during that week. He went on to tell her all the details of what he was planning and the teenager listened attentively, as she knew how important it was to him.
At some point in the conversation she tried to imagine herself in the same situation but was unable to, which sent a shiver down her spine.
When they finished their cups of tea they went for a walk in the garden. They were enjoying the walk until the man spoke: —Your father told me about the expulsion— the teenager and felt terrible that she had let her grandfather down.
—I'm sorry... I didn't mean to— she hung her head in shame.
—I know, dear. William doesn't remember but when he was your age he did worse things— Charles laughed a little, which caused Victoria to relax.
—Like what?— she asked curiously.
—He had a lot of girlfriends at Elton and once they caught him smoking, so he was almost expelled, but I convinced them not to do it— he explained, leaving the chestnut surprised, she never thought that her father had been a rebel.
—But what you told them wasn't right and you should apologise— she scolded him a little.
Victoria knew that nothing she did was right, but she didn't want to apologise, deep down she wanted to hurt them. Sometimes she felt they didn't deserve it and sometimes she just hated them with all her heart.
Seeing that the teenager was lost in her own thoughts she decided to speak up —We parents make a lot of mistakes, but the most important thing is that we love our children and your parents love you very much— Victoria nodded not very convinced but promised to apologise.
They talked for a while longer until the chestnut excused herself because she had to prepare a presentation. She thought about what her grandfather had told her, she wanted to make a speech at the coronation, she knew it would be a way to introduce herself to the world as the second in line, but she couldn't deny that speaking to millions of people terrified her.
After doing her homework she wandered the corridors of the palace trying to find a computer so she could talk to Andrew. Her new security guard, Holly, was following her closely. With her father's new restrictions, he wasn't going to let her touch a computer ever, so she gave up for the time being.
