Victoria couldn't fall asleep as her nerves wouldn't let her sleep. Every time she closed her eyes she imagined herself making a mistake in her speech, which really terrified her.
At some point in the night she decided to go to the kitchen to get a glass of milk and try to calm down. She took a seat in front of the window, which overlooked the large Kensington garden. In the distance she could see the road already full of policemen, which sent a shiver down her spine.
—What are you doing here, sweetheart?— asked her father, who couldn't sleep either.
Victoria didn't answer him, she just looked at him with concern and the man knew instantly what was on his daughter's mind.
—I'm sure you'll do great, but even if your nerves get the better of you, we'll always be here for you. Not many people would dare to make a speech at your age— he tried to cheer her up and it worked as the teenager could tell she felt less nervous.
—Thank you— she gave him a big hug as they both needed it. The man was also quite anxious, which the brunette noticed, but he didn't say anything and just gave her the best hug he could.
—Good night. Try to get some rest— William said, giving her a kiss on the temple before the teenager went back to her room.
After her father's words Victoria felt much calmer, which allowed her to sleep for a couple of hours.
The tranquillity was short lived as her alarm echoed throughout the room causing her to groan. She could hear the staff rushing up and down the stairs. When she looked out of the window she saw a crowd of police with people waiting to greet them.
Catherine tapped lightly on the door before gently opening it, wanting to wake her first born even though she had already gone ahead. Which worried her a little as her husband had alerted her to their little early morning conversation.
—How are you?— she asked with a faint smile, making the brunette turn to look at her.
—Now fine— she replied as calmly as she could.
Those words made the woman smile, she was glad that some doubts had vanished from her head. Although Victoria was still worried that she was wrong, knowing that she would have her parents' support in any case was very comforting.
Mother and daughter made their way to the dining room where there was already a pile of dishes ready for breakfast. Over the next few minutes each of her siblings came downstairs and when they were all there they started breakfast.
William looked at Victoria and asked her if everything was alright by moving his lips and giving her a thumbs up. Victoria nodded and gave him a small smile. They didn't have time to talk as they all went to get dressed. Her dress was white and long combined with a cape of the same colour that was the same as her sister's. She then let her hairdresser do her hair. She then let her hairdresser do her hair in an updo to show off her silver headband while she was given a subtle makeover.
Time passed all too quickly and in what seemed like minutes they were on their way to the Abbey. A footman informed her father that Harry was already there before they left the palace. The teenager realised that she had been so busy thinking about getting her speech right that she hadn't stopped to think that she would be seeing her uncle again after all.
When George arrived, he stood behind his grandfather and gave him a small smile. He took Charlotte's hand and they walked slowly to their seats. At no point did he look at anyone in the crowd as he was afraid of running into Harry.
