#Yatiz is a story focusing on the lives of young people in a small seaside municipality called Carmen in the southern part of the Philippines. The name is based on a cuss word here, "Yati/Yatis" that has no English equivalent but is closest to WTF.

JR puts his plate of lumpia¹ on the table.
He sees that Noel had already started eating.
"Salamat sa paghulat ha," he says sarcastically.
"WOW, THANKS FOR WAITING DUDE."
"Sorry, men. Gutom na kaayo," he replies, his mouth full of food.
"SORRY, MAN. I'M JUST SO HUNGRY."
"Asa si Aljun?" JR asks.
"ALJUN'S NOT HERE YET?"
"Ilang Mariz siya nisabay ug lunch."
"I THINK HE'S EATING WITH MARIZ AND THE OTHERS."
"Uyab na sila?"
"ARE THEY ALREADY DATING?"
"Ambot. Ana siya gabii panguyaban na daw niya. Naghulat lang daw siya ug tama nga timing."
"DON'T KNOW. LAST NIGHT, HE SAID HE'D ASK HER AT SOME POINT. HE'S JUST WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIMING."
The two of them laugh.
"Ew, corny," JR jokes as he takes a bite off the lumpia.
They're both quiet for a while, enjoying their lunch.
"Kakita naka atong Youtube video nila Maya?" Noel asks as he takes a sip of the soup².
"HAVE YOU ALREADY SEEN MAYA AND HER FRIENDS' YOUTUBE VIDEO?"
JR hesitates to respond at first. Without being too obvious, he steals a glance at Noel's expression, trying to work out what he knows about what happened with him and Maya. JR shakes his head. "Wala pa."
"I HAVEN'T YET."
Noel rolls his eyes. "Maglagot gihapon ko makakita sa nawong atong Gabriel."
"I STILL GET SO ANNOYED EVERY TIME I SEE GABRIEL."
"Naa diay siya sa video?"
"HE FEATURES IN THE VIDEO?"
"Oo. Sila ug katong iyahang kauban nga mga dancer. Sila ang una nila nga special guest." Noel lets out a heavy sigh. "Wala gihapon ko kasabot nganong gi-feature gihapon sila, pagkahuman atong gibuhat nila kang Maya."
"YEAH. IT'S HIM AND HIS DANCER FRIENDS. THEY'RE THE FIRST SPECIAL GUESTS."
"I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY COULD STILL FEATURE THEM, DESPITE WHAT THEY DID TO MAYA."
