JR takes off his shoes and picks them up. As he steps inside the door of the boarding house, he resumes typing a message on his phone.

PAPA: HI SON. HOW ARE YOU? ARE YOU WORKING?
JR: I ALREADY WENT HOME PA. WE CLOSED UP EARLY TODAY BECUASE UNCLE HAD AN APPOINTMENT SOMEWHERE.
PA, DON'T FORGET NEXT WEEK. I NEED TO PAY RENT FOR THE BOARDING HOUSE.
He sends the text.
"Hi bai. Sayo lagi ka?"
"HEY BAI. YOU'RE EARLY."
JR is surprised to see Noel, sat at one of the couches in the common living room, watching TV with Angelo, the electric fan blasting too harshly towards their direction.
"Noel? Nag-unsa ka diri?" JR asks, confused.
"NOEL? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"
"Hi JR," Angelo chimes in.
JR responds to him with a nod.
"Wala ka kadawat sa akong text?" Noel says.
"DID YOU GET MY TEXT?"
"Ha?" JR checks his phone. He shakes his head. "Wala ko kadawat."
"WHAT TEXT?"
"NO, I DIDN'T GET YOUR TEXT."
"Aw. Ha? Ganiha ra man tika gitext? Unsa delayed? Abi nako'g nakadawat na ka 'nya wala lang ka nireply kay nag trabaho pa ka. Wala man ko katuod sa imohang trabahuan so niadto nalang ko dinhe."
"OH. WHAT? I TEXTED YOU LIKE AN HOUR AGO. IS IT DELAYED? I THOUGHT YOU'D RECEIVED IT AND JUST HADN'T REPLIED BECAUSE YOU WERE STILL AT WORK. I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU WORK, SO I JUST CAME HERE."
"May gani nakauli na ko, sa gawas ra unta ka nag-hulat," Gelo says to Noel.
"GOOD THING I WAS ALREADY HERE. YOU WOULD HAVE WAITED OUTSIDE."
