JR through the crowded hallway, making his way through students exiting their classrooms. He spots the Guidance Office ahead and walks even faster, checking his phone for the time.
11:49AM.
"Shit," he mutters to himself as he finally reaches the door. He catches his breath as he knocks on the door. He braces himself and tries to open the door knob but it's already locked. "Fuck," he mouths as he attempts to knock on the door again. He waits and listens, hoping someone opens the door.
Nothing.
With a frustrated grunt, he turns and walks away.
Suddenly the door behind him opens.
He quickly turns around and sees...
"Hi," Hazel says, a bit surprised.
"Hi," he says, also surprised.
"Nag-unsa ka diri?" they both say at the same time.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"
Hazel weakly laughs.
"Pwede pa ko musulod?" JR asks.
"IS IT STILL OKAY TO COME IN?"
Hazel shakes her head. "Sorry. Lunch break na sila."
"SORRY. THEY'RE ALREADY ON LUNCH BREAK."
"Si Ma'am Zamora?"
"AND MA'AM ZAMORA?"
"Nag-nap na siya."
"SHE'S TAKING A NAP."
JR sighs and anxiously paces back and forth.
"Ngano diay? Unsa diay imong tuyo diri?"
"WHY? WHAT WERE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO HERE?"
He turns to face her with a sudden unenthused expression. "Sa among research. Naa man gud mi'y deadline karon unya kinahanglan nako'g tabang sa revision."
"IT'S FOR OUR RESEARCH. WE HAVE A DEADLINE TODAY AND I NEED HER HELP WITH A REVISION."
"Aw. Unsa siya? Dako siya nga revision?"
"OH. IS IT LIKE A HUGE REVISION?"
"Dili na gyud ko pwede musulod?" JR asks, growing agitated.
"CAN'T I REALLY COME IN ANYMORE?"
She shakes her head.
He bites his lip and exhales with frustration.
"Sorry," Hazel says sympathetically.
"Ikaw? Nag-unsa diay ka sa Guidance?"
"AND YOU? WHAT WERE YOU DOING IN THERE?"
Hazel smiles, pleasantly surprised by the question. "Bestie mi ni Ma'am Zamora. Gabisita ko sa iyaha pag bored ko."
