Accidental Beginnings

***

Jungkook couldn't help but chuckle as he watched Jiwoo dart out of sight, with Jimin hot on her heels. The name "Jimin" sounded oddly familiar, but he couldn't quite place it at the moment. Taehyung, the food enthusiast, immediately redirected their attention to the more pressing matter at hand.

"I'm hungry, let's go get some ramen," Taehyung declared, tugging Jungkook along as he entered the convenience store.

As they browsed the store's offerings, Taehyung couldn't resist delving into the mystery of Jiwoo. "By the way, I've seen this girlfriend of yours somewhere before, like..." Taehyung trailed off, his gaze settling on a display of cosmetic products. "There you go, I've seen her like a million times."

Jungkook, preoccupied with choosing the perfect ramen flavor, furrowed his brows. "How can you claim to have seen her a million times when I've only seen her twice?" he inquired, a hint of confusion coloring his voice.

Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise when he turned around and gazed at Jiwoo's image on the cosmetics packaging. He instinctively reached for his phone, quickly launching a Google search for Jiwoo's name. His screen filled with images and articles about her, and he blinked in disbelief.

Taehyung couldn't contain his smirk as he peeked into Jungkook's phone, which now displayed an image of Jiwoo. "Told you, I've seen her before," he reiterated triumphantly. Taehyung maintained a smug expression. "See, I wasn't making it up. She's a famous model."

Jungkook let out a sigh, his earlier pout fading into a melancholic expression. "No wonder she didn't reply. Why would someone like her bother talking to me? "Taehyung couldn't help but roll his eyes at Jungkook's self-doubt. "Are you kidding me? The way you guys were looking at each other was so fucking cute. Heck, I was so jealous."

Jungkook's eyes lit up, hope blossoming within him. "Really?" he asked, seeking validation from his friend.

Taehyung nodded, a playful grin on his face as he reassured the younger boy. "Absolutely. It was like something out of a romance movie. You two had some serious chemistry going on."

Jungkook and Taehyung strolled towards the checkout counter, each clutching a package of ramen noodles. Taehyung, driven by compassion and the joy of a moral victory, unintentionally crashed into someone's overloaded shopping cart, which subsequently rolled over the foot of the girl they had collided with.

The young woman appeared to be their age, and pain contorted her face as she sat on the floor, clutching her injured foot. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, but she valiantly fought to keep them at bay as she attempted to rise, only to falter and fall back to the ground. In response to this unexpected situation, Jungkook delivered a hearty smack to the back of Taehyung's head.

"Kim Taehyung, do you have any idea how much that hurts? Now go call a taxi, and I'll assist her," Jungkook declared. He knelt before the girl, who seemed reluctant to accept help, and began to speak reassuringly.

"Don't worry, I'll just get you to the taxi. If you prefer, you can go to the hospital by yourself. However, I strongly recommend letting us help you; we're just regular folks," Jungkook said, his gaze locked onto the girl's eyes, offering her a sense of security and comfort.

The young woman nodded and awkwardly climbed onto Jungkook's back. He carefully lifted her and carried her out of the convenience store. To ease the tension, Jungkook initiated a conversation during their journey.

"So, what's your name?" he asked, breaking the uncomfortable silence.

She replied in a hushed tone, "Lee Aera." Jungkook nodded, acknowledging her response.

"That's a nice name. I'm Jeon Jungkook," he introduced himself, and Aera's eyes widened in astonishment.

"Jeon Jungkook, as in the photographer known for capturing amazing pictures?" Aera inquired with awe.

Jungkook chuckled modestly, "I don't know about the 'amazing' part, but yes, I'm a photographer. Maybe the one you've heard of, unless there's another photographer with the same name who's equally talented."

Aera couldn't contain her excitement. "No way! You're my role model. I'm a photographer too, and I thought I was good until I saw your work. It's so beautiful, and I believe it's not just the camera but the way you capture moments that works the magic," she gushed.

Jungkook beamed, his famous bunny-like smile radiating warmth.

"Well, thanks, it's an honor," Jungkook replied, sharing a genuine smile with Aera. In just a few moments, a friendship had sprouted between them. However, little did Jungkook know that, in the process of being a gentleman, he had inadvertently shattered someone's heart.

Unbeknownst to him, Jiwoo had witnessed his laughter and camaraderie with Aera, leading to a painful misunderstanding. As Jungkook waited on the sidewalk for Taehyung to hail a taxi, it became apparent that Taehyung was struggling with the task.

"Jesus, I'll just call my driver," Taehyung grumbled in frustration, and within a few minutes, his chauffeur arrived at the scene.

"Finally, your driver's here," Jungkook remarked, relieved to see the car. He assisted Aera into the vehicle, who was still starstruck after meeting her role model.

"Taehyung will take you to the hospital, considering it's his fault he's a dumbass," Jungkook quipped, earning a puzzled look from Aera.

However, Jungkook quickly reassured her, "Don't worry, he's my best friend. If you trust me, then you can trust him too." Aera nodded in agreement, putting her faith in Jungkook's words.

Taehyung, witnessing Jungkook's remarkable ability to make anyone feel at ease, shook his head in amazement. He couldn't help but think that the lucky person who won Jungkook's heart would indeed be fortunate.

As the driver navigated through the streets towards the hospital, Taehyung's mind wandered. He genuinely believed that Jungkook and Jiwoo would make an adorable couple, and he secretly hoped that Jiwoo felt the same way about Jungkook. Lost in his contemplation, Taehyung pondered the unpredictable twists of fate that life often presented.
