Jude stared in the mirror of his bedroom cautiously, looking at his tuxedo and smoothing out the crinkles with his fingers. He smiled at his reflection, sighing happily. It was his very first middle school prom, and he was extremely excited. Perfect night, perfect dance and perfect boyfriend.
Callie walked in, standing next to him in the mirror with a smile upon her face. "Well, don't you look handsome?" Callie smiled as Jude blushed at her compliment.
"The prom is in an hour." Jude replied, putting gel in his hair carefully, trying not to mess up any part of it.
"Aren't you excited?" Callie asked, obviously showing her excitement. Jude looked back at her with a wide smile.
"Of course." Jude nodded assuringly with a toothy smile. Callie put her hand on his shoulder and kissed his cheek.
"Alright, finish getting ready. Pictures will be taken as soon as Connor comes." Callie chuckled. "Moms would not miss taking pictures for the world." She walked out to her room as Jude chuckled. He stared back into the mirror, biting his lip nervously and excitedly.
This would be the first time Connor and him would really show themselves in a Anchor Beach. People had found out they were dating, but now they will really know they're official and mean business. Jude and Connor talked and dreamed about the moment for almost forever. He was so grateful that they'd been in a relationship for almost a month now, and he enjoyed every second of it.
As Jude fixed himself in the mirror, a doorbell was heard from downstairs. That obviously caused his heart to jump and clench with excitement. "Jude!" His moms screamed from downstairs as a smile appeared back on Jude's face.
He walked downstairs slowly, and saw Connor's smiling face. It felt like that first day Connor had came over just to work on that project they had to do in 7th grade.
"My my, what a handsome Jude we have." Lena smiled from down the stairs. Jude's cheeks tinted pink from all the attention. He finished walking down the stairs, and looked at Connor. His boyfriend smiled back with a spark in both his eyes.
"Alright you two, it's picture time!" Stef exclaimed, holding up a Polaroid camera. The two laughed, standing next to each other. Connor wrapped his arm around Jude's waist as Jude set his hand on Connor's shoulder. The two stood there frozen as Lena and Stef took pictures of them.
As soon as they were finished, Connor held Jude's hands lovingly, kissing him on the cheek. Mariana squealed in delight while she watched the two be on a whole different level of adorable-according to her.
"I really hope you two have fun." Mariana giggled as she clapped excitedly.
"We will." Connor responded, squeezing Jude's hand. Seconds later, the front door opened, and an unexpected person walked in. Connor sucked in a breath as he stared at the person standing before the two. "Dad?" He greeted in question. Adam raised his eyebrows.
"You didn't think I wouldn't say anything before you went to prom?" Adam asked. Connor didn't answer him, nervous himself. Jude pulled him closer, mentally assuring him that it was going to be okay. "Well, I do have something to say." Adam cleared his throat.
"I wanted to say, that I'm proud of you."
Jude looked up at him in surprise, now holding on to his words. "I know I haven't been the best person to you since you came out, and I'm-I'm sorry for that." Tears filled his fathers eyes as he looked down. "But I want you to know that I'm your father, and I'll always love you regardless." He smiled sadly. Connor smiled back, exhaling in relief. "And I want you have an amazing prom with your wonderful boyfriend." He added. Connor hugged his father suddenly, closing his eyes in relief. His father hugged him back as a tear slid down his cheek.
"I love you too dad." Connor responded as they pulled away from their embrace.
"Now, go have fun." His father patted his shoulder and Connor nodded in agreement. Jude held out his hand, and Connor grabbed it gladly.
"We'll be back at a reasonable time." Jude told his moms.
"Of course!" Lena laughed. "We're picking you up, you know." The couple chuckled, remembering quickly.
"Thank you, for everything." Jude said, and his mothers smiled lovingly at their son. The young couple walked out, and the others stood there watching them go.

"Now we're out of the gushy lovey moments with our family, we can have some of those moments with each other." Connor smiled, pulling Jude closer to him as they walked into their school. Taylor smiled at the sight of the couple, raising her eyebrows.
"You two look cozy." She said with a chuckle. Jude blushed while Connor kissed his cheek in confirmation. "Oh stop it you PDA couple." Taylor rolled her eyes as Connor smiled at her annoyance.
"Let's go in." Jude looked at Connor happily. He nodded, and the two walked into the dance officially-as more than friends.
Slowly they entered the room, and looked around. The blaring music wasn't helping, but stares and whispers filled the room as they walked in holding hands. Connor looked at him reassuringly, squeezing his hand lovingly. The two sat down at the table and the other students continued dancing, but a little curious about the little boys.
"Some people are staring at us." Jude sighed, smiling slightly at him. Connor put his hand over Jude's.
"Let them. It shows that we're proud to be who we are." Connor smiled, Jude blushed at their hands, smiling back.
"How am I going to be used to this?" He chuckled softly, his cheeks turning red. Connor chuckled with him, and looked into his eyes as Jude did the same. Caressing the side of Jude's face, Connor leaned in and lightly put his lips upon Jude's for a few moments, and then pulled apart. "I think this can really work." Jude answered his own question, keeping his eyes closed and content.
"Do you want to dance?" Connor shyly asked, scratching the back of his neck as he held out his hand in question. Jude looked down at it, and goosebumps appeared on his arms from inside his sleeves. He looked up at Connor, and nodded as he took his hand. With that, they both stood up and walked over to the dance floor. People stared for a second, and backed away, now watching out of curiosity.
The song turned slow and soothing, and Jude's face could not stop turning red at the sight of all these people watching. Connor just laughed at his embarrassed expression, and put his arms around Jude's waist while Jude put his arms around Connor's neck.
The two slowly swayed to the music, staring lovingly into each other's eyes. After a while, they didn't notice the stares and whispers all around them, they just noticed one another and the music.
"Connor, I have to tell you something." Jude whispered into Connor's ear.
"What is it?" Connor responded, looking at him as Jude's face moved closer to his.
"I-I think I love you." Jude admitted, biting his lip. Connor's eyes lightened up in delight as he sighed happily.
"I love you too." He replied as they stopped swaying. Jude couldn't contain his happiness as he pulled Connor closer to him, locking him into an embrace. Connor held tighter, burying his face into Jude's neck. And again, the two swayed to the music with their eyes closed. "Awws" and "oohs" were heard in the background as they looked back into each other's eyes. Connor slowly and cautiously closed the gap between them, locking their lips in a new sparked kiss. This one felt different, more fulfilled than the others. Their relationship had been missing a puzzle piece, which had just been found tonight; their love for each other.
---
After the prom ended, the two finally stopped swaying slowly and laughed shyly at the end of the last song. The room was empty, with cups and napkins on the floor from the prom food.
"I had such a good night." Connor said as he pecked him on the lips again.
"So did I." Jude responded against Connor's lips once again, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's neck. "I really love you, Connor." He added, pulling away.
"I love you too." Connor's cheeks turned pink. "Agh, I just love saying that." He chuckled, looking down.
"You're my best friend, and an amazing boyfriend." Jude raised his eyebrows proudly as they held hands, walking out of the prom room.
"I know." Connor joked, smirking. Jude playfully nudged against him and they both laughed. They opened the doors of their school and Stef and Lena were waiting in the car with smiles and affection. The couple walked into the car, and sat their dreamily.
"How was the prom?" Lena asked, smiling at Jude through her mirror.
"It was perfect." Jude said, holding Connor's hand in delight. The two felt like they were on cloud 9 as the mother's could tell, so they didn't say anything more, but drove Connor and him home.
