*This is in the dark world. Kris was trying to piece together what happened and what destroyed the original Rune Kingdom, but they had hit a block. They couldn't figure it out. They managed to piece together that it had to be something catastrophic. Likely some titanic beast. However, they couldn't figure out what it was, and what exactly happened. How Ralsei was the only one to survive. They took what they pieced together to Great Sage Abigail.
"It just doesn't make sense!!" Kris said angrily.
"Wait...titanic beast....I remember I lived in a kingdom with my mother...and one day, when I was eight...something happened. I was immediately sent away, with my staff of course, just to be safe. I learned how to take care of myself. I was sent away with my staff and a grimoire of my own." Great Sage Abigail said.
Kris remembered something that they had seen in the ruins.
"Wait...was it the Rune Kingdom? Was your mother a Great Sage? Great Sage Ophelia?" Kris asked.
"My mother was a great Sage...her name was-" Great Sage Abigail paused. She looked at Kris. She grabbed her grimoire, and looked through it, and found something. "Get the Prince. We're going to the ruins."
Kris got Ralsei, and then the three went to the ruins.
"Okay, we need to draw something. You got anything we can use to draw?" Great Sage Abigail asked.
"Yeah."
Kris handed her a piece of chalk from a box they had stolen from Susie earlier.
"Thanks."
Great Sage Abigail drew something. Looked like a perfect circle. She then set her grimoire down in the middle, and instructed Ralsei to do the same, and Kris set their sheathed sword down.
"Okay, kneel down, we'll all hold hands, and recite the incantation. This is a spell that allows us to look into the past." Great Sage Abigail stated. "It requires two darkners and a lightner. We are two darkners and a lightner. Get ready."
The three took each other's hands, after Kris removed their gloves of course, and they all recited the incantation, and closed their eyes. A ball of light formed in the middle, and it sort of absorbed them. The three found themselves in a place that felt ethereal.
"Show us the past." Great Sage Abigail commanded. They were shown pure chaos in the Rune kingdom. There was a titanic beast, that appeared to be a dragon, with glowing eyes. It looked different than the dragons that Susie knows. These eyes...glowed red. They were then shown something else. Ralsei's mother. And young Ralsei. Young Ralsei was put to sleep, and protected in a bubble like shield, and he was then taken to the location of the new castle, and then he stayed there, in the bubble shield for a long time, as the original Rune kingdom was destroyed, and the dragon left.
Ralsei woke up at around nine years old, and he started taking care of himself. It was like that for a little bit. There was a flash of light, and it all faded away, and they were back in the ruins. Ralsei started tearing up, because his mother had sacrificed her life to save his own. He knew this, but he saw it from a spell this time. Kris held him close as he cried. Great Sage Abigail witnessed her own mother's death as well. She helped comfort both Kris and Ralsei.
After a little while, they went back to Great Sage Abigail's house, and she wrote everything down.
"Thank you. Both of you. I deeply apologize for anything you may have seen." Great Sage Abigail said.
"No...thank you. I now understand why I only remember my life from when I was nine years old until now." Ralsei said.
"You know...Great Sage Ophelia was going to teach you two. Together. She must be happy to know that you two actually live in the same kingdom again." Kris said.
Great Sage Abigail smiled. "You're pretty smart. I want you to be the best swordsman you can be."
"Got it!"
To be continued....
