Some time has gone by since our last chapter, hasn't it, dear reader? Well, time has gone by in this world too! Everyone's a bit older now. Kris is now seventeen. Susie is now eighteen. You basically get it. Let's get right back in now, shall we?
Kris woke up one morning, and stretched, as usual. They had a meeting that day. They made themself look presentable, and got going. It was at the research lab this time.
When they got there, it was all silence.
"So. Kris. What is this 'roaring' that Tengen overheard conversations about?" Raitoningu said, braking the silence.
"How did you know about that?! Those were private conversations!!" Kris said in shock.
"You're so loud." Tengen said, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms.
"No I'm not!!" Kris protested.
Everyone just stared at them.
"What?! I'm really not!!" Kris just about shouted.
"You're being loud right now." Tengen stated.
"Shut up." Kris grumbled.
"Anyways, Kris, we would like you to explain it." Shinobu said calmly.
"It's basically the end of the world." Kris said.
"We wanted more than that." Iguro said sternly.
"Ugh....FINE."
Kris took a deep breath in preparation for the explanation.
"Okay, so, there is a balance between light and darkness. There should only be one dark fountain. With extra dark fountains, the balance could be thrown off and the entire world will end. Darkners will turn to stone, and lightners will be left to defend themselves, and they'll just eventually all die." Kris explained. "Not only that, but titans will take form from the extra fountains and I'm sure that they're going to go crazy and destroy everything. There. Are you happy?"
Everyone just stared at them in silence.
"Anyway, so there's a lightner—we know it's a lightner, because only lightners can open dark fountains—who calls themself 'The Roaring Knight', or just 'The Knight'. They're the one who has been opening dark fountains. They've opened only two, which I have sealed both, and we are keeping the pure dark fountain." Kris continued. "We do not know the identity of The Knight, and I plan on finding who they are. I would like to beat them up."
"Kris, you know everything can't be solved with violence..." Tanjiro said, sounding a bit concerned. "...what if they didn't understand the dire consequences of opening extra dark fountains?"
"Then I will tell them off." Kris said, crossing their arms. "But if they do, then I'm sending them to whatever deities may exist."
"Killing people doesn't always solve problems, Kris." Himitsu stated.
"Sometimes it does. Some people deserve to die." Kris replied. "Hell, we're literally after demons!! We are trying to kill them all!!"
"That's different." Tengen muttered.
"Listen, we all know someone who died by my blade, and that they absolutely fucking deserved it." Kris stated.
"Okay, that time, it was justified, because he was a terrible person." Tanjiro said. "But you still should at least hear them out before killing them."
"Fine." Kris muttered. "But don't expect me to go easy on them!"
Iguro was suspicious of how Kris knew so much.
"How do you know all of this? Are you The Knight?" Iguro asked.
"Absolutely not! Ralsei told me all of this, and he's A PRINCE IN THE DARK WORLD!" Kris answered angrily. "I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE DARK WORLD EXISTED UNTIL SUSIE, CRYSTAL, AND I FOUND IT BY ACCIDENT!!"
Shinobu put a hand on Kris's shoulder. "Calm down, Kris. We know you're not The Knight."
"You're pretty defensive." Tengen stated.
"You're really stubborn." Kris replied without skipping a beat.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me."
Kris and Tengen glared at each other and almost started throwing hands.
"Now, Kris, Tengen, we talked about this. No fighting." Shinobu said, getting them both to stop.
Kris and Tengen instead flipped each other the bird. Shinobu sighed, knowing that she can't do anything about it.
"This whole 'roaring' thing sounds like a huge problem." Tanjiro said, trying to get back on topic.
"If it does happen, I'll be running all over just to seal dark fountains. That shit is exhausting." Kris muttered, crossing their arms. "And I'm the only person I know that can seal dark fountains. It would hurt to touch them for anyone else. Asher got a sample of one, and he's got a scar on his hand from it."
"Is he okay?" Mitsuri asked.
"Yes, he's alright now." Kris answered. "He also got the sample."
After a couple moments of loud silence, Kris decided to break it.
"Back on the topic of The Knight...I have an idea of who it may be." Kris said.
"Well then, spit it out!" Tengen demanded.
"Ah-ah-ah! Not yet." Kris said. "I will provide my evidence first."
"This is annoying..." Iguro muttered.
"Now, The Knight has set up some traps that are basically puzzles." Kris said. "The name they go by too. The Knight. They are a lightner, which allows the opening of dark fountains."
"JUST SAY IT ALREADY YOU'RE WASTING TIME!!" Tengen yelled.
"Now, from what I know, there's one person that this can point to. Papyrus. I'm talking, Sans's younger brother." Kris stated. "I've provided some evidence, but allow me to explain."
Kris took a deep breath once more.
"Papyrus has always wanted to be a part of the royal guard. A knight has placement in the royal guard, as we all know. And, like I said, Papyrus is a lightner, and only lightners can open dark fountains." They explained. "Not to mention the puzzles. Papyrus LOVES puzzles. All of this evidence put together points towards The Knight being Papyrus."
Everyone was shocked by this.
"But....he's so kind and funny!" Mitsuri said.
"I know, I know. If it really is him, he most likely doesn't understand the dire consequences of his actions." Kris said. "As for right now...I believe that The Knight is Papyrus. I believe that this should wrap up the meeting now. Remember to keep quiet about this."
To be continued....
