His POV

The morning arrived and Akshu wanted to eat Maggi, so she told me to cook and she freshened up. I cooked for us and she loved it. Today we had to trek our way down the camping site and the private bus would pick us down the mountain and leave us to our hotel room. We had packed our stuff up and started trekking down the mountain. Half way down the mountain Akshu said that she can't do it anymore and asked me with puppy eyes if I could give her a piggyback ride since only half way was remaining.

I could not say no to her and left my equipment there and carried her down. I made her sit in the bus and told her to wait for me as I had to get the equipment that I left there. My punishment, she was giving me punishment in the sweetest manner. I knew the girl would walk all the way to the hotel if someone told her to but she became tired only half way down the mountain, it was entertaining to watch her test me. I had promised her friends that I will not give up even if she tells me to and if these little things gave her reassurance then I am more than happy to reassure her.

I brought all the equipment and the journey to our hotel began on the bus. I had given her chocolate and one of my AirPods to distract her from all the motion sickness and this time she rested her head on my shoulders and slept all the way to the hotel. To say that I am happy would be an understatement. She accepted my promise ring, she did not glare at me constantly and she was smiling and laughing around me. Nothing else would make me happier.

We reached the hotel, I woke her up and told her to wait near the entrance. I took all the camping gears and we headed for the elevator. Our hotel rooms were on the 8th floor and we had reached just 4th floor when the elevator suddenly malfunctioned. All the lights went off and the elevator stopped moving. Akshu was scared and she told me to call the helpline but there was no signal in there and the elevator did not have any landline. She gripped the edge of my shirt and asked me, "What if we are stuck and no one comes looking for us?" "What if no one checks that the elevator is not working?" "What if we die here?"

I sat down and then made her sit on lap and bear hugged her. I whispered stuff like, "I love you, don't worry nothing will happen to us." "Someone will come soon." "The elevator will start and we will go to Mumbai" She had her face in my neck, my smell, my hug and my words were comforting her. We were waiting for the elevator to open and I had told her to keep her eyes closed. I never knew she was claustrophobic, if I knew that was the case I would have never taken the elevator in the first place and I did not mind going up the stairs 8 floors.

Half an hour had passed and suddenly the doors of the elevator opened and people had rescued us. Hotel staff were apologizing, but I did not care about them, I just cared about my Akshu. She was scared to death and I had to get her out of the crowd.
