It did not take long for the numbness and emptiness to return. Alora thought her time with Din would keep it at bay, that Din's simple presence would fend it off, but to no avail. Instead, here she stands on an unknown planet with a ruler who recognizes her face trying to help solve a problem with former Imperial droids.

Her chest aches. And her pockets burn. Mostly just the one she had sewn into her robe just above her heart where a chain of charms lies.

Alora surveys the security chamber intently, taking note of any individuals who shoot them looks or otherwise catch her attention. While she watches everyone else, she listens to the head of security as he pulls up video footage of the droid malfunctions.

"These droids were all reprogrammed to serve the community from the stockpile of captured Imperial robotics scheduled to be scrapped at Karthon," the head of security, Commissioner Helgait, explains. "The droid's reprogramming was a complete success, until one day, an isolated event."

Alora purses her lips and rolls her eyes but looks to the footage where a droid spews garbage all over the place.

"Then others." More videos appear, detailing the malfunctions they have observed. "This is just a small collection of malfunctions that our security cameras caught."

"Turn them off," Bo-Katan says over the echoes of terrified screams on camera.

"What?"

"Why not just turn them all off? Who's in charge of that?"

The commissioner points to himself. "I am. There's a failsafe cutoff switch built into the system. However..."

"What?" Din asks.

"The citizens voted against any interruption in droid services," he chuckles. "They can't live without it."

"And why is that?"

"The citizens are no longer required to work and can spend their days engaging in recreation, the arts, and participating in our direct democracy. If we shut down the droids, our citizens wouldn't know how to survive. Our society would collapse."

Alora narrows her eyes as she takes in the commissioner's back. "Seems like a far cry from Imperial rule," she says under her breath.

Bo-Katan leans forward. "Then what do you want from us?" She asks.

Sighing, Helgait says, "To seek out and decommission any remaining rouge droids until we can fix the problem."

With a sigh, Bo-Katan purses her lips. "Give us the list."

"Well, for that, you'll have to go to the lower level and speak to the Ugnaughts."

Din straightens. "Ugnaughts?"
