percy seemed helpless.
he had no idea what kind of monster dr. thorn was, but he was fast.
cherry and percy walked side by side.
cherry felt useless. more than she ever had. all those powers, and she had no idea what to do.
annabeth would've had better luck.
percy closed his eyes.
"what are you doing, jackson?" hissed dr. thorn. "keep moving!"
"it's my shoulder." percy lied, sounding miserable. "it burns."
"bah! my poison causes pain. it will not kill you. walk!" thorn herded the kids outside.
cherry murmured something.
probably insulting, percy thought.
the group walked throughout the snowy path. percy's face was lit by old-fashioned lamplights.
"are you okay?" cherry questioned.
"i will be." percy reassured.
"there is a clearing ahead," thorn said. "we will summon your ride."
