Hermione woke to feel the gentle brushing of Draco's lips against her neck. She smiled with her eyes closed, taking in every sensation. His scent; his arms wrapped around her; the sound of the ocean lapping the shore just outside their bedroom; she wanted to remember all of it.
"I love you, Hermione."
"I love you, Draco." They lay in silence for what felt like only a moment, only to later realize they had stayed in bed in each other's arms for over an hour.
"Today should be the day, Draco." She looked up at him, her chin resting on his chest.
"Let's just stay one more week, you need it." His eyes held the familiar softness and concern, a desire to take care of and protect her.
"One week! Draco, that's ridiculous! She's out there right now!" Her face contorted with disgust at the thought of Belatrix. Draco brushed his cool fingers gently along the side of her face. He traced her jawline, down her neck to her collarbone, following the curve of her waist until he slid his finger in between her legs. She took in a breath, surprised at the intense sensation.
"One more day?" His voice was low and husky.
Hermione merely nodded her head, not being able to form words as Draco worked his fingers. Within moments he was on top of her, sliding in and out between her legs slowly and deeply.
An hour later, Draco flicked his wand at the teapot in their room to have it whistle within seconds. He poured them each a cup of tea without having to leave the comfort of the covers. They lay in bed, talking about anything other than looking for Belatrix. Clouds were rolling in along the shoreline, casting a faint grey hue that contrasted beautifully with the turquoise waters. It reminded Hermione of Draco's eyes, bright blue that clashed oh so perfectly with the intense stormy grey. How she loved looking into those eyes.
They both dressed, opting for lightweight Muggle clothes. They had decided to explore the island. Within moments, they were walking down the stairs and out the front doors. They didn't see any sign of Narcissa in the house. Walking on the deserted beach hand in hand, the wind blew Hermione's already argumentative hair into tangled strands but she didn't care. Draco's hair was perfectly tousled.
"Do you ever wish you had siblings?" Draco's question wasn't relevant to their previous topic of Honeyduke's candy. Hermione was slightly taken back.
"I suppose sometimes, I don't think about it too often though. I've always thought of Harry and the Weasleys as family." She hadn't spoken to them in so long. She wondered how they were fairing. A horrible wave of guilt crashed into her for deserting them in such a way, but they would understand. What she was doing away from Hogworts was out of love for them, and her love of Draco.
"I do. I would've done anything to have a sibling. Younger or older, brother or sister, I wouldn't care. When I have kids I want them to have a sibling." Hermione picked up that he had said "when" not "if," as if he was already planning on having children.
"Yeah, I suppose I would too if I ever had kids. You imagine yourself having a family?" Draco looked at her with a smug smile plastered on his face and squeezed her hand in his.
"Yes, I do see myself having a family someday. I really want to be a father. I want my kid's childhood to be magical in a way more than spells and potions, I want to make it perfect for them." He looked at his shoes, a shy smile lingering on his lips.
"Do you imagine yourself wanting a family?" His voice was shy and cautious. Hermione giggled.
"I suppose I do, assuming I find the right person to do it with."
"What would that person look like?"
"Smart, loving, caring, and brave."
"Oh that must be impossible to find!" He rolled his eyes and put his hands in the air in mockingly before wrapping his arms around her shoulders and planting kisses on her cheek. He stood behind her before whispering in her ear,
"When I think of having a family with someone I imagine my wife and my children's mother being smart, loving, caring, brave, and drop dead gorgeous." He nipped her ear as he finished speaking.
"Well, good luck," she laughed.
"Don't need it. I've already found her."
