Of course he knew that Alex would get to race that weekend. He was the number one driver afterall. The shining star. The leader. Whilst Logan was nothing. He'd finished 21st in a 20 driver championship. He'd scored one point in all of 2023 and the only person who'd got less than him had been sacked mid-season.

He was nothing.

He was nobody.

Nobody but a failure.

A disappointment.

A waste of space.

So he shouldn't have been surprised when he got informed that Alex would be taking over his car for that weekend.

A nothing.

That he needed to make a statement to be released to the public about the decision.

A nobody.

He did. With the most pr answer that he could come up with. He couldn't share his own feelings on the matter. Williams still had all the power afterall. They could sack him if he went against them.

A failure.

“If I'd have known they were going to do this, I'd have put a stop to it right away,” Alex said sincerely as he ran to catch up to Logan after they had made the statements.

A disappointment.

“It's fine Alex. It's not your fault,” Logan responded flatly.

A waste of space.

Before Alex could respond, Logan had swiftly headed off out of the paddock. He wanted to be out of there before Williams made his non-participation in the race official to the fans.

A nothing.

On the way back to the hotel, Elias drove in silence. Only after his first couple of attempts to make conversation ended in one word answers from Logan in a flat monotone voice.

A nobody.

Logan knew he was being a bit of a prick. Elias didn't deserve the closed off treatment. He didn't do anything. But Logan couldn't help it. The moment he let go of his emotions, they would all be let loose from the dam that was holding them in.

A failure.

And he didn't want to cry here. Not when he was highly likely to meet fans standing outside of the hotel. They didn't need to see the tear stains and blotchy cheeks. No point in giving them questions when the answers will come shortly.

A disappointment.

Before Elias could make another futile attempt to engage Logan in a conversation, Logan practically ran inside the hotel. Thankfully there were no fans there as Elias had the initiative to go through the back entrance.

A waste of space.

Nobody paid the figure clad in Williams gear any attention as he pelted up the stairs two at a time, which Logan was eternally grateful for. He didn't want anyone to ask questions or hold him up. Which was why he took the stairs rather than the lift.

A nothing.

Logan got to his room without being stopped by anyone.

A nobody.

Elias was nowhere to be seen. Logan thought his trainer might have waited outside his room and forced Logan to talk to him.

A failure.

“Yet another person he had managed to push away,” Logan thought. He wasn't even sure if Alex would want to talk to him again.

A disappointment.
