Our love, tender and strong,
My heart for him, where it belongs
Memories of us, a timeless bond,
From sunset's hues to the morning's dawn
Then came that fatal day,
Words lost, nothing to say
Wide-eyed, frozen in shock,
My heart plummeted, a heavy rock
He held me tight, to shield from harm,
Yet fate dealt a cruel, unyielding arm
A car careened, inches away,
In reflex, we flinched, in dismay
He pushed me clear, out of harm's way,
But trapped himself, where danger lay
Blood-stained, I screamed and cry in fear,
A nightmare unfolding, so unclear
I shook him, calling his name,
Burdened with guilt, consumed by shame
No pulse felt, he's gone, I mourn,
Ambulance late, dreams torn
My love, what have you done?
As warmth embraces you, under the sun
Forever, I'll miss you, my dear,
May you remember, my love, sincere
