As Hyunjin and Yn found their seats at the lavish table, their eyes wandered up to the stage, where their families were already delivering their speeches. The room was packed with employees from both companies, all dressed up in nice suits and plain yet elegant dresses, clutching glasses of champagne and nibbling on hors d'oeuvres. The chatter was deafening, but Hyunjin couldn't help but feel a pang of nervousness as he glanced at Yn, now considering where there or not this would be a good place to tell them.
The stage lights bounced off the polished wood floor, creating a warm, intimate glow that made the room seem smaller and more personal. The two owners, Mr. and Mrs. Hwang, and Mr. and Mrs. Park, stood at the front, their faces beaming with pride as they reminisced about the past ten years. Their voices spoke smoothly through the speakers, each speech punctuated by raucous applause from the audience.
Yn glanced at Hyunjin, noticing the slight nervousness in his expression. She smiled reassuringly and reached over, taking his hand in hers. The warmth of their touch grounded him, and he felt a newfound determination to finally tell them. As the speeches drew to a close, the audience began to settle down, their conversations growing hushed in anticipation of what was to come.
The spotlights dimmed, bathing the stage in a soft, intimate glow. The two couples made their way backstage, to once again greet their families. The emcee stepped forward, her voice calm and soothing as she announced a brief intermission. The room erupted into a cacophony of chatter and movement as guests rose from their seats, excusing themselves to mingle and socialize.
Hyunjin felt his nervous pool in his stomach as he walked up to their families. He could already tell that they were suspicious by their closeness. "Hey honey" His mother said giving him a hug, and Yn stood by her grandparents not having the guts to tell them. Hyunjin was unsure of whether or not to tell them since he was unsure if now was a great time, but none the less he spoke up. "So, you know how I was telling you about my girlfriend?" He said suddenly feeling nervous as all eye turned to him* "Well, Yn is actually my girlfriend..." he felt his body tense up, he knew that his parents wouldn't mind, he was just worried about what Yn's family will think.
"That's great honey!" his mother said excitedly and looked over at Yn. His father just nodded in agreement a slight smile on his lips which made Hyunjin feel proud, it isn't every day or even every year for that matter that he makes his father happy. Now all that was left was Yn's family's approval. He looked over feeling a little scared when he saw her grandfather's intense stare, however when Yn spoke up, "Yea, and he's really nice so don't worry" her grandfather face quickly turned into a smile. "Well, in that case, good on 'ya." he said giving Hyunjin a firm handshake and her grandmother looked like she should burst from happiness, "well that's just lovely" she said giving me a smile before pulling Yn in for a hug.
