She was the girl with bruised knees and scraped elbows. She'd fallen of her skateboard too many times, but it wasn't her fault her father bought her a child's toy from an aisle in Walmart. Sometimes, she could feel her feet lift of the ground. She wanted to fly. She was the girl that likes combat boots and Green Day.

She was the girl with good grade and pale skin. Her mother bought her ballet slippers tutus. Her feet never left the ground because she was afraid to fall. She was the girl that liked to wear flower crowns and pink pastel lipstick.

Together they could dance into the sun. They loved coffee, more that either of them could care to admit. They loved cigarettes, a lot more that they should've. They loved the spring and the rain and flowers in the field. The field behind the dance studio, full of wild weeds & misshapen daisies. They loved the winter and snow and damp leaves on the ground. They loved each other.
