The banquet hall is reduced to near crisps and scraps once enough water, spells and charms manage to douse the burnt wreckage of what it used to be.

Boulders, cinders, metal frames were being lifted one by one from the flame marked floor.

"What a mess this has all been.", the Allfather grumbled, overseeing the repair and cleaning of the recent dramatics. "Monsters on the loose and a destroyed dining hall."

Thor, previously biting his nails, jumped up to his feet.

"Is that all you have to say, Father?", he accused with reddened eyes.

Odin turned around, startled at his son's outburst. The workers nearby kept working, carrying out plies of rubbish and rubble with beading sweat down their hairlines.

"What?"

Thor stepped forwards with one hand clenched around Mjölnir's handle. "Your son, my brother, and his promised one have disappeared under the flames. They could be dead!"

Odin opened his mouth to speak but before a single word could leave his lips-

"ODIN!", bellowed Frigga, stepping out of her royal stance.

The king downed a large swig of plum wine, mumbling "Oh shit." into his cup.

"Where are my children?"

"Well, Thor is right here and nobody knows about Loki."

"And Y/n?", she questionned, "That doesn't disturb you?"

Odin scoffed and rolled his eyes, "How many times has this boy faked his demise? He'll surely rise up from the ashes, once more. Literally."

Frigga snatched a handful of grapes from the golden bowl placed near Odin and threw them harshly on him. Never had she manifested such anger and disregard for the rules.

She sniffed disdainfully, "I'm going in."

"You'll do no such thing!", Odin threatened, voice booming through the corridors. Several handmaidens and servants stopped in their tracks like deers in headlight, believing the words were meant for them and some wrongdoing they couldn't fanthom.

The queen froze in her steps to face Odin.

"Is that a threat?", she asked slowly, giving him a chance to redeem himself.

He answered smugly,"An order from your king," with his finger poised to intimidate.

Frigga glanced at the finger, then at him from head to toe, before spinning on her heels to enter the banquet hall as planned. "The power and strength of a mother dethrones the one of a king."

With that, she lifted the hem of her dress and entered the burnt room, amidst the workers and rubble. Yesterday, it was still glittering wonders, reveling, high crystal chandeliers, tapestries on the smoothed walls and laughing.

Now, nothing remained.

Thor followed on in, scanning every corner of the room with wary eyes.

For a while, they search tirelessly, verifying every square inch of the large hall.

Cracks ran through chipped floor tiles while dark wisps had crawled up to the ceiling, the imposing stained glass windows were broken and all the large brocade curtains were reduced to thin stubs.
