A young girl ran out to the shiny car that had just pulled up in front of their grand estate. Her excitement was contagious . "Uncle!" she yelled, waving frantically.
Her uncle emerged from the car, a small smile on his face. "Vespera, you've grown," Noa commented, lifting her up to his eye level as she ran to him.
The entire family came outside to greet him. Mr. and Mrs. Reichert walked side by side to meet Noa. "Brother, it's nice to see you again," Mr. Reichert said, extending a hand.
Noa nodded in agreement. "Yes, it is."
Vespera reached out to her mother. "Mommy, come say hi to Uncle!"
Mrs. Reichert stepped forward, shaking Noa's hand with a fond smile while a malicious plan brewed in her mind. She clapped her hands together. "Shall I make some food for your visit?"
Mr. Reichert looked at her, puzzled. "Honey, you don't have to do that. The chef can cook instead."
But she gripped his arm tightly, silencing him. "No, I insist." With that, she walked into the house, the rest following her.
The kitchen smelled meaty as she prepared the meal, Schnitzel . Vespera walked in, her curiosity piqued. "Mommy, can I help?" she asked.
Her mother nodded, handing her a bowl of meat after pounding it tenderly. "Spread this on the counter and coat it in egg," she instructed. Vespera did as she was told, and her mother continued, "Now take the flour and breadcrumbs and coat it completely."
Vespera followed her mother's instructions meticulously. Mrs. Reichert then turned to her daughter. "Vespera, get the powder in the drawer, please."
Vespera retrieved the small bag of powder and handed it to her mother, who sprinkled it on the meat's coating before placing each slab in the frying pan. She then prepared the juice, using a presser to squeeze it into two cups, adding the remainder of the powder to the glasses. "Perfect," she mumbled to herself.
The food finished frying, and Vespera looked up at her mother. "Mommy, can I eat that too?"
Her mother shook her head. "You'll eat later, okay?" She reassured her daughter. "Now help me take these out to the table."
They carried the food to the dining room, where Mr. Reichert and Noa were seated. Mrs. Reichert set the plates down and smiled. "You two eat for now. I need to go wash Vespera's hair."
They both nodded, understanding her need to tend to her motherly duties. Taking Vespera's hand, she hurried down the hallway. Before entering the nearest room, she turned to the maid, Elsa, and whispered, "As soon as they completely knock out, knock thrice on the door to let me know."
