Michael awoke early, the first rays of sunlight casting a gentle glow over the small dorm room. He blinked away the remnants of sleep, taking a moment to orient himself. Today was the day of the tryouts, and a mix of excitement and nerves buzzed through him.

He glanced over at Y/n, still asleep, her breathing steady and peaceful. The diamond rose necklace glinted in the morning light, a stark contrast to her tousled hair. With a soft smile, he got out of bed as quietly as he could and headed to the bathroom.

The hot water felt like a blessing as it cascaded over him. Michael massaged his scalp, feeling the tension ease out of his muscles. He let the water run over his face for a moment before stepping out, reaching for a towel. He dried off and slipped into the jersey and cleats that had been supplied for the tryouts. The jersey felt strange on his skin, a reminder of the new life he was stepping into.

He glanced back at Y/n, still soundly asleep. Her peacefulness was a stark contrast to the turmoil of the previous day. He walked over to her and gently shook her shoulder, trying to wake her up. "Y/n," he whispered, "wake up."

She stirred but didn't wake. Michael sighed softly, not wanting to disturb her rest any further. Instead, he grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, scribbling a quick note:

"I'm at tryouts so don't panic. I will come back to the room as soon as I can. – Michael"

He placed the note next to her on the pillow and quietly left the room, a soft smile lingering on his lips as he looked back at her one last time.

Down on the field, the air was alive with anticipation. Michael joined the other boys, all dressed in their jerseys, ready for the day ahead. The tryouts were grueling, each drill designed to push them to their limits. Michael threw himself into each task, his focus unwavering.

Back in the room, Y/n woke up to find the bed empty beside her. Panic gripped her chest as she called out, "Michael? Michael!" She sat up quickly, her eyes darting around the room until they landed on the note. Relief washed over her as she read it.

After taking a moment to collect herself, Y/n got out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up. She rummaged through the drawers and found some T-shirts and pants, quickly putting them on. She did her hair and then headed downstairs, her heart racing as she made her way to the soccer field.

When she arrived, the tryouts seemed to be wrapping up. Staff members were clustered together, pointing and discussing the players. Some boys were sitting on the benches, catching their breath, while others had their shirts off, cooling down from the intense session.

She scanned the crowd and spotted Michael's familiar blond hair. He was talking to a boy with magenta hair, their conversation animated. Y/n walked over and tapped Michael on the shoulder. He turned, his face lighting up with a smile as he saw her. "Y/n!" he exclaimed, pulling her into a hug. "Did you get my note?"
