Flashback
Michael lay on the bed, clutching his tatted arm as tears threatened to spill from his eyes. The pain was unbearable, but the frustration of feeling helpless only made it worse. Ness, standing nearby was torn between panic and fear. He had never seen Kaiser like this so vulnerable, so broken.
Y/n had been busy somewhere and the team had been given some time off so Ness suggested they go outside for a bit. What was supposed to be a simple stroll quickly turned into a nightmare.
They had wandered off the facility grounds and into the streets. Kaiser had seemed oddly nostalgic, mentioning something about how he used to live near there. But then it happened.
Some thugs appeared and it was clear from the way they called out to Kaiser that they had a history. Kaiser had told Ness to ignore them, but one of the thugs wasn't about to be brushed off so easily.
He grabbed Kaiser by the hair and a fight broke out. Ness watched in horror as one of the thugs pulled a knife at the last second, stabbing Kaiser in the arm before they all ran off leaving Ness with a bleeding defiant Kaiser.
Now, Kaiser was lying on the bed looking like he was on the brink of death. Ness wanted to say something to offer comfort, but he knew that anything he said would only irritate Kaiser.
He could see the pain in Kaiser's eyes, but Kaiser had snapped at him insisting that he was fine even as the blood seeped through his sleeve. Ness had pressed his hand against the wound trying to stem the bleeding, but it was clear that this was beyond his ability to fix.
"I need Y/n," Ness thought desperately. Kaiser needed help and he knew that Y/n was the only one who could get through to him. Without wasting another moment, Ness bolted from the room, searching for her. He went to her room first, but it was empty. Panic set in as he tried to think of where else she could be. Then it hit him. Noa's office.
Ness rushed to Noa's office, his heart pounding in his chest. He knocked on the door and to his immense relief it was opened by Y/n herself. She looked at him concern immediately washing over her features when she saw the worry in his eyes.
"Ness, what's wrong?" she asked, her voice soft but urgent.
"It's Kaiser," he blurted out, pointing down the hallway. "He's in pain, and he won't let me help him. Please, you have to come. He's bleeding badly."
Y/n didn't waste a second. She nodded and began running with Ness, heading toward the stairs that led to the next floor. As they moved, Y/n sought more information, her voice steady but filled with concern.
