Her mind took her there.
In a vast dark void, weightless and unanchored as though suspended in a dream she couldn't wake from. There was no ground beneath her, no sky above but just an endless abyss stretching in all directions. Her body felt distant, almost intangible, but her mind was wide awake and alert to everything around her.
Suddenly, her eyes started to flicker and flash as though jolted by some unseen force. Then like a floodgate opening, everything came rushing in.
She saw it all.
The first image that blazed before her was a scene of familiarity, but odd. Vespera bleeding profusely and being stomped to death by Hildegard. Y/n could feel the impact of each strike as if it echoed through her own body.
The sound of bones cracking, the sickening squelch of blood, the shamelessness of Hildegard's face. It all played out in horrifying clarity. Vespera's blood splattered across the ground, mixing with the other blood. Y/n could see the life drain from her eyes.
"Wha?" Y/n's voice, though unheard in the dream seemed to echo in her mind. She felt a knot tighten in her stomach as Hildegard's eyes glinted coldly, like a demon caught in the act. Vespera hadn't killed herself. Their mother disposed...
Of her.
It's all fitting together
The scene shifted rapidly, like a film reel being spun too fast. A conversation in a car. Her mother and a mysterious man, their voices low but dangerous. Y/n couldn't make out their words, but the something was sketchy. She could feel the the secret they shared, something sinister lurking beneath every glance and gesture.
Then came her "father's" face, twisted in confusion and fear. His lips trembled as he questioned why he was never told anything, why the truth had been kept from him. Y/n watched in horror as his eyes pop with realization, just before he was knocked out and snatched away.
It's all fitting together
Y/n's pulse quickened as the vision swirled again. The clinic. She could see the victims, one after another, coming through the doors of that clinic. The fear in their eyes, the trembling in their hands, their helpless bodies subjected to vile experiments. Boys she recognized naked and confused and some others huddled in alleys. Their faces imprinted in her mind, each one of them another casualty of her family's schemes.
She gasped as her vision darted to Michael, a nude sketch plastered all over a magazine page, like one they saw way back when. An image planted by Vespera. It had been part of a grander plan.
